    posted a message on [Graph] Popular Maps - BOOKMARKS

    @RodrigoAlves: Go

    Thanks for compiling all of that information together, its pretty interesting.

    I wasn't expecting Desert Strike at the top. I thought SotIS, Left 2 Die/ Starjewelled (or possibly even Debates ;) ) would have been at the top.

    @LosTacos: Go

    It loads the list of games faster (from my experience) to view the bookmarks instead of popular maps.

    Waiting for that stupid loading animation to finish is not the highlight of my day.

    posted a message on How was the Custom Map Scene at this Point in WC3?

    Some of the Warcaft III maps that were around around the same point as SC2 at the moment are:

    • 10 Hero Siege / 4 Way Hero Siege
    • Angel Arena
    • Buyers and Sellers
    • Commando Wars
    • DotA*
    • Final Fantasy Tactics RPG
    • Ice Troll Tribes
    • Illidans New Home / 12 Blademasters
    • Murder at the Mansion
    • Sheep Tag / Kodo Tag
    • Spellcraft / Dalaran University
    • Wintermaul
    • Zelda Open RPG

    Note: DotA = Original version by Elu; the non-crap version with modified slk files for the custom abilities!

    I am about 99% sure that all of these maps existed before TFT, which came out a year (and 2 days) after ROC. However, I do not necessarily mean that they were fully complete and polished.

    The original mapmaker from Warcraft 3 is making it for Starcraft 2. Not sure about the ETA or how far it has progressed.

    posted a message on [NSFW] Sexy Gamequiz is coming!

    Is it still possible to replace a placeholder map in the cache with this map so you don't have to upload on B.Net, just like custom maps in the beta? That might get around the whole banning issue :P

    In any case, I would probably play Jurassic Park instead.

    I'm sorry, I don't really remember their names. They seemed to be different people though because it happened on different days.

    The first guy got into an argument with half the game because of the way he was using his power. He warned almost everyone until he was killed and booted a few people as well.

    The guy yesterday warned a fair few people as well, one of them being someone who was trying to defend themselves on the stand. He hadn't done anything wrong and then after the mod himself died, he booted him.

    I can appreciate the usefulness of a mod, especially when people are afk or lagging, however I have only seen it disrupt the game rather than help it. Maybe I am just getting the short straw when it comes down to moderators though.

    I have been really enjoying this game, however recently I have noticed something that has been ruining games.

    Every person who is a moderator that I have come across abuses their power and kicks people from the game without a legitimate reason.

    If possible, would you consider making this more like the ability to initiate a vote to kick from the game rather than an absolute power kick?

    Other than that, I have about 1500 points because I have played this so much! It's an awesome game, you have done a great job on it!

    @Selfcreation: Go

    I have played some custom games with friends which turned out to be melee maps (despite being labeled as custom). I still managed to lose in them every time and absolutely hated them.

    The worst part was when my army and main base is killed and then the next 20 minutes is spent trying to rebuild, expanding all over the map only for each base to be destroyed within minutes of it's construction.

    I agree. The game is supposed to be fun, but instead it is something you have to over-analyze in order to win.

    Instead of playing it more casually, people now have to compete with everyone else on a ladder for the majority of normal games. They become more competitive when there is something at stake (in this case, online rank) and thats when all of these strategies, build orders and counters (etc) need to be memorized so you can win. On top of that, you have to be fast enough to react to any situation and be on the ball the whole game.

    I did play normal games on the beta for a brief period of time and haven't played any since then. I actually hate playing normal games because of all the stress from them. There is a lot you have to worry about during the game and all of the things that you need to do know beforehand just to give you a chance at winning.

    Don't get me wrong. I don't play to win, I play to have fun. However, if you make a mistake, then you'll probably lose the game. All that effort to get that far is wasted.

    I think I will stick to custom games.

    posted a message on Searching someone with the SC2 Beta mpqs

    @Lonami: Go

    I started having a look through the achievements in the beta editor, but they are missing some details.

    The icon that each achievement refers to is the same for all of them. The file is called ui_achievement.dds, located in the textures folder. However it is just a green star and not the achievement sheet.

    Furthermore, the icon column/ rows details are also 0 by default for all achievements. In other words, it will end up being guess work to determine what the mystery achievements are because I can't look at the column/ row numbers.

    On another note, could the missing portraits have been released after my current beta version? It might be the reason why they aren't on the sheet.

    Edit: Attached the list of achievements in the editor.

    posted a message on Button references not working

    @TheTAZsc: Go

    I encountered this problem and the only solution I found was to edit the text with the text editor.

    The easiest way to do this is by clicking the edit button next to show style controls while you are editing the text and then insert the data reference through that section. For some reason you can not do this in the data editor, but the text editor has no issue getting values from custom effect/ behaviours/ units etc.

    One thing I should point out is that if you haven't written anything in the field yet, you cant open it in the text editor. To fix this, just write anything in it and click OK. Open the field details up again and the edit button should work.

    posted a message on (Solved) Poison Behavior

    @XpossumX: Go

    Instead of reducing health regeneration, making a damage effect occur for the periodical effect of the behaviour would solve this and some other potential issues that could occur (e.g. bypassing shields).

    Imagine this buff on an Archon compared to a Zergling. It would actually kill the Archon (350 shields and 10 health) before it would kill a Zergling (35 health) if applied at the same time.

    If you do not want the target regenerating their health either, it can be disabled within the modification section of the behaviour.

    @Lonami: Go

    Unfortunately, I found the portrait / achievement sheets in the latest patch file because they were not bundled with the 5000 other textures located in the in the base.SC2Assets file within the Liberty.Sc2Mod folder. In other words, I have looked there already.

    I am not sure when I will have time to look through the achievements, but when I do I will have a look. Which of the achievement icons were the mysterious ones? I don't really play normal games, so I barely remember the achievements back in the beta.
