i was wondering if at least we could share this? Can we make a game out of it? Can the ossom muppetstore peeps go beyond the solidsnake uber individualism that defines "usual" mapmaking communities/websites?

So just choose a muppet/paste it in an attitude (or anyother u want) and lay your bet:
your map will get it in the a or in the b?
And remember .. to play/bet on your own map being fine/screwed by 3 9 0?? YOU have to bet and then update! Dont cheat?!
Also, while i do get that this is a fix/ not a patch.. i still think we need this!!!?????
i seem to remember that could be an issue (like the resources or other shit are "allocated" to player 0, no?
Did you try to do another (player 13) ?
Besides that and "melee" imperatives/your team select/preselect acting weird/..? no clue,
..but if adding something "more" is the issue (maybe).. maybe re doing that part (don't dump the map/make a copy and try on it) could make you find what s happening? (i mean your computer player?) .. if you figure it out .. then you jump back in your map and fix it).. if not you ll have the map without your computer player but that might help..
at least you didn't bin the map .. for me when that happens.. that s a success (i admit i haven't had to do that for a year now .. but every time i patch/publish i get the jitters)

if you "fixed it" and it happens again, you will know you are doing something wrong (something that was maybe "accepted" by your comp/map but that now is not anymore
did you go over all changes you did? reverted them / just to back track whatever it might have been you did that now has "de linked" (the things you did that were working before) (not saying it is your doing .. saying retracing might help make you think of a solution/fix)
then of course there is the 'bug" or irreversible stuff not of your doing(?) but i wouldn't know where to start top fix, if i opened your map sowy

That's the idea yes, the dream really :D i have since i started on the idea, .. but again i wanted an open city where players have to "discover" the map and i'm not sure how to do that (beyond thinking that making an ai that would "organically" go to the spots the players would is possible etc.. far long ahead (unseen yet) and frigging hard)..

i love the data editor.. just a pain to remember everything of every layer of every link involved ... once you figured stuff out (not to mention the still ever present "any blizz homebase patch could change stuff" you never thought they would or never knew existed ..etc)
.. but in any case, 100 % agreed.. anything worth doing HAS to be in data "hardcoded" .. but i won't be able to go veryu far (because of my resolve to do something else that does not make it an imperative for my ultimate goal: movies)
The things you can do with what is there already is so potent it is jarring and i think basically unheard of before (no one's ever corrected me on that :D .. that galaxy is a prize fighter .. something of an unique "x" live right now.)

.. and a map without testers is like an ability without the graphic displays.. almost nothing! Not that i mind really.. :D i'm learning anything / everything through the maps i make in order to make movie scenes (which are 100% less hard to do since it isn't supposed to be playable.. just played :D

i fully realize that my case does not really call for what can be referred to as an ai, but i do so love the parallels though
i wanted to find people to move the units around according to a script (a movie) and now i am trying to do it through the engine itself !

i ve had mix results with components files / sometimes it does the "cannot save" bug (or maybe i'm the bug :D causing impossibility to save into components or back into map format)
the function is a "save as" function (file/save file save as .. there it allows you to choose / choose save as components)
the idea is straightforward, maps are a file or a folder, this function allows you to view the map as a sum of all its parts (your imported assets notably) a folder with all the files that makes it (game data / trigger data / etc / all of it)
This folder in which you can then "manually" add stuff or change it (like importing data (copy pasting it) or adding files etc)
.. in this form, your map can be opened but not published (didn't try recently but i doubt that has changed)
once you have done what u need, you re save as
instead of as components / save as map
and if it works .. bob's your uncle (done all good)
...
So for merging files you would/could make your two maps as components and mess with whatever you want to mess with (taking trigger data from one trigger file unto the other for instance) IN the folders/opening those files (again as raw "code" files) or "simply" exchanging one game data file for another (that s prone to bugs of course)
Then you would re save as a map and the change will work or not (sorry to add that this method is kind of risky, do make backups etc (just in case) .. since you could be stating contradictory code with this method (through not knowing all the "linked" stuff you are "messing with".. the probability of error is quite potent)

i've never really successfully used the "merge" function, but again! just make back ups and try it
the function seems "clear enough" .. again i tried and never got it to work (but that was several years ago)
To be clear, the "component's method is standard .. why everyone is advising you to try/do it

there would be a dual link / the thread asking and the "thread u pointed to" .. nothing more (add the name of the "solvant" :D poster who "solutionned" it previously..)
