    Off the top of my head : Go to your caster unit's actor and create a new event. Set the even to an Effect event, and set the effect to your effect and have it on Start. Then set the action to Animation Play, give if some name and simply set the animation to Attack - Variation 00 or Variation 01 or etc. Set flags to non looping. This makes your caster animation on cast.

    To create visual for your spell, you have to create a new actor that's Model Addition (One Shot or not, I still haven't figure out the difference). Actor event with same event as your caster unit's but this time you set action to Create Actor (creates your actor when this effect starts). Then set a new event to Actor Creation and set the action to Animation Play and play a Birth Stand Death(BSD) animations). Now create a model for your actor, this model will be whatever you want.

    I have this glitch every night I log on to play, restarting sc2 fixes it right away. What's interesting is that each of those maps have a different popularity =) Desert Strike > Nexus wars, intensive AI micro is fun to watch, especially when AI micro makes void ray spam useless instead of OP.

    You simply press add object in the actor section like when duplicating.... ? oh right add model too.... and press Abilities in the unit to add abilities.... then just select your unit in the token of the actor.... and give actor and models same ID is usually recommended.... and select Actor's Art-model to your model

    They usually don't face the direction of their targets when shooting if you lower the attack speed. I tried changing weapon acquire methods to angle, tried adding on a turret with no angle movement, didn't work out =/ for me anyways

    Chat channels are insignificant. Doesn't surprise me that Blizzard delayed on implementing the things. Improving the editor, however, is a much more productive thing to do.

    I would so trade editor improvements with something else much more meaningful, like improving battlenet 2.0 by adding chat channels for social and a normal custom maps list

    Are some field path values not alterable via. CatalogFieldValueSet? If so, what's the long ass list for it? I can't seem to alter some values like Food but easily alter speed, armor and etc. Read somewhere that it's limited by what Upgrades can alter...

    There's actually a lot of crap maps on that popularity listing. At least 75% of those maps are completely broken or jibberish. 1000000 zerglings (a classic from sc1) was broken if you had more than 5 players, making it into a melee FFA with player controlled zerglings attacking. Poker Defense was broken also, it doesn't work properly before the popularity refresh, and heck I'd bet it doesn't work now either. That version of helms deep is way too inaccurate, even sc1 helms was more accurate than that. The heroes and the unit balace are so ridiculously off that it's not funny. I found a perfect minigame map 14 pages down, I had to play it alone since no one would join. THIS MAP WAS BUG FREE WTF? really, if popularity system isnt at fault, what is? good unbroken maps were too good to be played that's why they're at the bottom of the list?

    Btw, can anyone explain how there's 15 baneling arenas, several golems and poker defense and some number of other maps that were previously popular on my list? This is seriously worse than dota.

    Definitely copper, forget bronze. Silver, gold and diamond revolves around skirmishes around the map. Rarely a large battle.

    This is pretty old news actually, he posted this several months ago in his blog (or just beginning of summer, I forgot when). Just hope he doesn't do what HoN and LoL did to dota, make it into child's play. The current dota in wc3 became so popular was because of the restrictions and graphic limitations. IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE 10 YEAR OLD GAMES!!! RLY? and focused on GAMEPLAY over anything overly flashy or eyecandy. My opinion is unchanged after several weeks of playing both and got laughed at by teammates saying that my GTX 275 can't run the game correctly that's why I have such poor graphics. Rly ? running Crysis on ultra obviously means running low on LoL... Let's hope icefrog gives us something good at least.

    BTW, wc3 doesn't have that bad of lag, shitty hosting, and connection problems (mainly disconnecting and unable to rejoin like HoN). These problems only occur in pubs and low leagues, join a good league and you'll get access to reconnecting programs and 10 ms games everygame via GHost bots. I believe the good points of LoL got defeated here since wc3 can use reconnection system and reliable hosting also....

    Lol can the maps be completely uber messy? just a wall of triggers with no functions and library with no organization and multiple triggers with the same event and stuff like that. If so, this is actually not that hard even with that time limit, just make the map as you go with a simple story and simple "uniqueness" and uber flashiness visuals (assuming blizzard would rate your map with a high end computer). Also unused units actors and scraps in the data editor that's left unused and just hogging up space. P.S. - does it violate any rule to post a paragraph yelling at blizzard in the loading screen for the stupid popularity system?
