It's amazing. As in epic amazing. Like you might expect from Blizzard, it's even better than their older games, which were downright brilliant to start with in the first place.
I'm so positive about it I don't even know where to begin. The campaign has greatly diverse missions, grabs you from the start without being boring, is exactly right on difficulty, has meaningful side-quests that are fun to complete and has a GREAT, GREAT immersive and surprising storyline... Starcraft 2 isn't as much an 'RTS' as it is what I would call an 'E-book'. The cinematics are SICKLY well done, the mission diversity requires you to try a different tactic for each mission, the choices-of-alliance you get actually impact your play, there are a gazillion easter eggs referring to not only other Blizzard franchise but basically EVERYTHING that exists (this ranges from WoW to horror movies to pretty much anything). Characters are realistic, balance is extraordinary, achievements are actually fun to get rather than random 'complete this task' things... Oh, and there's an amazing list of 'challenges' to play through once you're done with the campaign.
And I haven't even mentioned the sick detail that goes into this game. You can see the effing sweat pour of peoples' eyebrows in cinematics. There are graphical changes for pretty much every single update out there. Heck, take this as an example; I was playing a map just ago where I started off with a hero who had a custom-made Blink ability (like the one Stalkers and the Warden from Warcraft 3 have). I later got actual Stalkers who also had this ability - the two actually worked together in my interface. As in when I selected both my Stalkers and my hero and used Blink, they would both use their own form of blink to reach the target terrain, rather than having only the hero or only the Stalkers Blink. The detail really goes that far to provide a seriously sickly good gameplay. EVERY tiny little detail of the lore is worked out, up to the way Medivacs work.
Really, even if you HATE RTS's... If you don't like Starcraft 2, you're never going to like any game.
Note that this is all singleplayer though; I've gotten my fair share of melee-experience online in the beta, which was cool (release melee games should be fairly similar), but I haven't really worked with custom maps yet since release.
I'd love any idea to make money with maps without
A) Becoming a gross sell-out and
B) Getting sponsors stuffed down your throat,
but the problem is that Starcraft, which is basically 'the sport' in our situation, is actually clearly created and owned by Blizzard. Hence you'll always have something to do with Blizzards right to the game, making this whole ordeal even harder.
I think Meta pretty much canceled this project. I did the terrain for it and got a PM saying he was busy with other stuff now. I've still got the terrain if you'd like to do something with it though, Gaurus.
After watching trailers for the GAME... it is to my conclusion they should make a movie (by blizzard themselves not another group because they will corrupt the animation and storyline) of this once the saga has fully completed it's ending. I would pay to go to the movies atleast 10 times just to watch it on the big screen =D
Aye, and it could totally be about green beings in a medieval setting fighting an alliance of Humans, Dwarves and... oh wait.
It's been said before though, and I've always thought it - a movie in the Blizz universe done right could easily be the next LOTR. Still waiting for that Warcraft movie, though they could easily pull of a Starcraft just as well.
Last night I had a dream. Not just any dream, it was an incredibly detailed dream describing a map that seemed to be a hybrid of Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 1. When I woke up, I still remembered pretty much all the details and exactly what the map looked like. Taking a break from the usual 'terraining only' you've seen me do, I decided to map out my dream (a Starcraft version rather than a Warcraft one, though) and see what I end up with.
Now that I've just laid the basics out, my problem is that I'm not entirely sure what direction I want to take it. I've got the positions laid out, but haven't even the slightest idea how to turn this into a suitable 2-player co-op map. Let me sum up what I do know; refer to the attachment for it to make sense.
Player 1 (red) will take control of four outlying bases of which the eastern two are meant to be overrun so severely in the start of the game that it's impossible to hold them.
Player 2 (blue) will be either computer controlled or player 1's ally. He has one base but is supposed to be somewhat of a powerhouse from the start. It's more or less the main 'bastion of strength' in this area.
Player 3 (cyan) will perform a similar function to player 2. The upper base is supposed to be fairly strong and build up, while the lowerbase was more of a harbour in my dream.
Player 4 (purple) is the enemy Zerg. He attacks from three sides and while not specifically in control of a base, he has powerful attack waves spawning every so much time.
And that's basically where it ends. It can literally go in every direction from here. Player 1's ally could command a base or be supplied with units to reinforce player 1 on a timed basis. Player 1 can lose all his bases and might need to retreat into player 2 or player 3's territory. And I have absolutely no idea what the 'function' of player 2 and 3 is supposed to be.
Now what I am looking for, is basically anybody who is interested in helping me turn this 'idea of a map' into something suitable for play. If there's anybody who likes where this is going or really just feels like giving any kind of input, then shoot away, as I sure as hell don't know what I want past "turning this dream into a playable map".
Regardless, thanks for taking your time and reading through all this insane babbling of mine.

If you go to the cantina, there's holografic Night Elf females doing their dance in the background.

So where is it?
Call me crazy, but I've looked all over and can't find anything that even has to do with the theme.

That was weird. I could've sworn I clicked the 'SC2Mapster Forums' bookmark. What is this place? Where am I?

@IskatuMesk: Go
Hmmm... Probably something along the lines of
"Good job! You sure showed those guys!"
and some kind of
"Our base is under attack" notice.

Give credit where it's due, people.
Rocks might eventually evolve.
