Seriously though; you make a good point, but I think it differs person to person. I've often found myself coming up with storylines and gameplay based exactly on what I end up creating with terrain (both in SC2 as well as other games). I rarely work on a more solid plan than "this terrain should consist of an X on planet Y, featuring perhaps some Z". Some folks plan and work when it comes to this, some work and plan as they go along. I don't think one way is necessarily better than the other, though guarding for a playable map is nevertheless a good thing to be reminded of.
As the last map in our recent Nova-themed WTE's, this week's theme will be "Combat Training". What does this mean? As opposed to focusing on sniping or a Ghost Academy in itself, this week I'd like to see what a training session for a Ghost would look like. Whether this is an exercise court or some small battle is up to you.
Oh don't get me wrong; I was merely using your post to hitch the old discussion back in as I figured some folks may find that interesting and relevant to date.
It's like I said - I'm sure I'll enjoy myself with the maps for a couple of hours, if nothing else.
A few of us had a relatively big discussion in this thread a long time ago, and some valid points were raised in Blizzard's defense. I feel like Blizzard is likely still overcharging somewhat, but at a cost of 15 bucks for all 9 missions things are looking a lot less dramatic than I originally thought they'd be. I suppose I'll see whether it was worth the money when I finish the missions...
i pretty much assumed tosh's ppl are the evil ones in this campaign. if i will be right i definitly wont buy it.
This scares me because it's a very real possibility. It'd put a damp on the story, but I can totally imagine Blizzard going "hey let's grab back that old character, it'll be a nice reappearance!". They need to come up with more new, strong characters that can stand on their own, like they did in LotV.
Either way, I just bought it. What changed my mind was all the good reviews, coupled with me remembering that for what it's worth, WoL, HotS and LotV still have some of the best and most enjoyable gameplay out there that I've witnessed in the past few years. I mean - worst case scenario I'll just enjoy myself again for a couple of hours.
In line with all the information we've been getting about the new Nova maps, this week's WTE theme will be "Ghost Academy". What does this mean? Simple: you create what you think a Ghost Academy looks like. Whether it's the outside, hidden away on some remote planet, or the inside, depicting training areas and resoc-rooms is up to you. Just show us where Nova was made!
You want the admins, not the moderators. Same issue here, can't access anything.
I wonder if we could get some kind of tag functionality in so that we could summon them to specifically important issues? Either way, for now I've sent Eyamaz a PM with a link to this thread so the higher-ups are at least aware of this issue.
No offense, but you're better off learning how foliage works :P
Like terrain textures, it is painted onto the terrain through the foliage palette. The issue is that by default, it is painted across the entire map - Blizzard seriously likes their foliage, there's shitloads of it in most of the campaign maps. What you want to do is use the 'disallow foliage' brush to remove it from the entire map, then use the 'allow foliage' brush to paint it where you want to have it, and *then* use the 'generate foliage option'. Basically treat it like a regular terrain texture and you'll be fine.
Sorry for the delay, but here's the new WTE! This week's exercise will be a specific one that I think you'll all like! The theme "Sniper Spot" means I'd like you guys to make a terrain showing off a great sniper's vantage spot. Whether this is a scenic shot with a high tower in the background or a view from said vantage point is up to you!

I'll extend this for a week. Had a very busy few days and uploading a new WTE now would mean the time on its deadline would be very short.

I can't condone this advice :P

Well, I've been quite on the fence about whether I should be getting this. I had pretty much just decided not to, and then there's this.
Hmm.

When?

It could well be some kind of temporary downage while an update is applied, or such. Either way, we'll probably find out soon.

1350 is nothing. Shouldn't make a difference for anyone with a PC built after 2006. Nothing wrong with testing, but I wouldn't worry.
