posted a message on Map guidelines

Few days ago I saw Blizzard was conducting a map making contest and some of the map guidelines are kind of strange to me.

It says, there must be a link to the online version of the map provided. How can I make a map visible over the internet?

And the other thing is “Bird’s Eye” or isometric screenshot (720p+ preferred). How can I make screenshot of this quality, is there some tool or option in the editor? The only thing that comes to my ming is FN + "print screen" when developing my map.

posted a message on Enabel structure placement grid

I was wondering is there a way how to enable structure placement grid like we see ingame, when placing a command center or hatchery or nexus?

I could possibly place minerals/geysers around a nexus but it it very repetitive to test over and over for each mineral line.

As you can see from the image, some mineral fields are too near the nexus.

posted a message on Reward player with AI achievement

I guess adding my own achievements is also not allowed :) If that was allowed it would cause chaos in the achievements section :)

    Never mind, thanks :P :D

posted a message on Reward player with AI achievement

I am making Melee map 1v1 and I want to enable vs AI achievements for the user. For example he wins 10 games vs Harder AI on my map and then he gets a Harder AI Romp 10 achievement.

Is it possible to enable achievement for a user if he plays against AI, or just Blizzard official maps can do that?

If yes, how can I do that, is it with some triggers?

Yes I sent you a request. I tried to invite some players, but collecting 12 seems hard, lot of time to wait. 3 people the most joined. Once it gets boring to wait they leave.

posted a message on Testing my map: Mountain Ridge

I was wondering what technique should I practice in order to make sure my map is balanced and without usable defects?

Yes by playing but, it is not just sit, play 2-3 game and its over. Any ideas how?

Maybe I try 3 game with protoss, 3 with terran, 3 with zerg against AI. Ok I could also try different AI difficulties, like 9 with medium 9 with hard 9 with harder etc...

What could be optimal way to test a SC2 Melee map?

posted a message on Big-Game Hunters: ARENA

Well I was making a map by just adding players in the Map->Players section. Just make sure you set them up, controlled by user. Once this is set I can start the game and add AI players... but yes your map is custom and it requires behavior different than the default Melee AI behavior. Sorry forgot that!

I guess it is very time consuming, hehe, to make the game work well and as well program AI opponets and as well take care of game balance :)

Once I get today on my PC will try to reach you on Battle.Net. It is just I spend time playing evening hours like 18:00 to 22:00 and I might forget :)

posted a message on Some cliff problems

I was editing some of the clifs using the "same level cliff" tool just to extend the cliff outward a bit. But I got to some problems.

One is between the man made cliffs and natural cliffs the editor adds a visible gap as if there is no rock there.

And the other problem is the new ground(edge) I attached to the existing is far more lower in height than the existing and looks bad.

gaps between man made and natural clifs - galaxyeditor

clif edge is lower than the main land mass - galaxyeditor

One possible solution would be make man made cliff bellow the bridges. Easy fix. But probably there is a way how to fix it even when mixed both, man made and natural cliffs.

I could use the Height tool but that seems time consuming task and probably it will look uglier than it is now. Is there easier way how to make the edge and the main land even in height?

posted a message on low graphic settings prevent foliage from being generated

Will fiddle aroung with other settings too. Just to note I chaged Terrain Quality to medium and it generated decent foliage. Just so it doesn't look monotonous.

    Thanks.

posted a message on low graphic settings prevent foliage from being generated

What does this mean and how can I improve?

Does it mean I have lower level computer, i.e graphic card that cannot generate foliage or I have to change something in settings?

I see ton of stuff in video settings for the editor but which one should I change?

posted a message on Ramp blockers

Hello. I want to put ramp blockers in the same places where map designers put on meleee maps. I found them in the blockers doodads but the problem is when I test my map I cannot shoot the blockers and destroy them eventually. Yes they are unbuildable fields but cannot destroy them.

Are there some specific types of blockers or I have to use some triggers to enable that functionallity?

posted a message on Testing my map: Mountain Ridge

Well this isnt published but just wanted to make sure that it looks ok. I made some screenshots: http://vladtheterran.tumblr.com/post/134986862972/i-feel-like-bobross-galaxyeditor-starcraft2

If you were making a natural surrounding map which doodads would you put?

I used zerg carcasses, Agria trees, some Zerus plants :) Volcanic spires, some lava fountain controls :)
