Thank you for your answer, and for your questions !

What are your goals with the editor? What interests you the most? The majority of mappers specialize in 1 or 2 areas, but not the entire editor. If you have a specific interest in creating models and animations, that person may not be able to teach you much about the trigger editor.Someone who can teach you about triggers, may not be able to teach you much about making a good terrain.

I have just make a presentation of the module I am starting working on : [Mod] Ctrl+eZ : Take the control !

My aim is too learn to use the editor by making this module. I guess I will need mainly datas and UI, i will occasionnaly use triggers, banks and dialogs. I don't think I will need terrain, models, and cut-scenes. I would prefer too learn doing things « professionally », even if it take 3 times as long !

    posted a message on [Mod] Ctrl+ : easyMod !

    Hi

I would like to present the new project that I am working on : Ctrl+eZ In fact, this is my very first project, and I am beginner with the editor. So, some easy things take me much time… Also, english is not my mother tongue (i am french), so don't blame me for my language mistakes…

Ctrl+eZ will be a module for melee maps, which aim to give enhanced controls and UI to the players. The SC2 multiplayer is often considered by new and casual players as too difficult, and focused on « mechanics » and APM. Ctrl+eZ offers to anyone to play the same game as pgm (same maps, same units, same balance), but with better controls.

    Current features :

    Zerg

    • Auto-cast for larvae injection enable on the queen
    • Auto-cast for transfusion enable on the queen

    Terran

    • Cooldown on stimpack (marines and maraudeurs) to avoid overstim
    • Countdown graphic bar diplayed for the stimpack ability
    • Auto-cast for mule calldown enable on the orbital command

    Futures features :

    General

    • Customizable army selection (F2) : choose units you do not want in this selection : units in hold position and patrol mod ; observers…
    • Customizable grid, with a drag-and-drop system
    • Auto-training of units enable
    • Customizable priorities of sub-groups
    • Visual alert for approaching supply-block
    • […]

    Known bugs :

    • For the units with auto-train enable, the portrait of units are not correctly displayed in the production queue

If you have comments, questions, suggestions… do not hesitate to post here.

[NB] : I will edit this message as I progress in the development of this module.

    Hi Dr !

I have made big progress, thanks to you ! It almost work !

One problem only is remaining : when I keep the 2 buttons (« Train SCV » and « Train SCV auto ») all is fine ; but when i delete the button for the basic « Train SCV » in the control panel of the command center, i have a graphic bug : the portrait of the scv is not displayed correctly on the production queue of the command center. Is it a bug, or did i failed something ?

I attach a screenshot of it, as well as my mod as it will be easier to understand.

    Best regards

Does the unit have the ability? Is it added to the command card? Does the ability have the command?

Sounds like you modified a melee default.

Just make sure you have placed the correct variant of command centre.

    Hi Doctor !

Now the button appear, as I have linked it to the basic « Train SCV » ability. What do you mean by : « Does the ability have the command? » Do you mean that the ability has been set-up with a default button ? Yes, I did.

I have created an « instant effect » ability (« Train SCV (auto) ») and a « issue order » effect. The instant effect ability is linked to the « issue order » effect and the « issue order » effect order the basic « Train SCV » ability.

But, for now, I can't add the « Train SCV (auto) » to the abilities of the command center, nor can I link the button of the control panel to this ability. I don't know why…

Not sure what you mean… How can I know which variant is the good one ?

    Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your answer… but I am starting from ground and nothing seems to work.

Even the second button I made do not appear in the command center… I have spend all my afternoon to make something as easy as that… so frustrating. ^^

So lets (re)start from the beginning…

Is there something to do to activate my button ? (Do I have to link it to an ability yet ?) Why are there 3 command centers in my unit list ?

    Thank you to spend time.

Edit : yes, i had to attach the button to an ability in the control panel of the command center, and the 3 command centers are related to dependencies i guess. I have press a button and now each item do appear only once.

posted a message on Looking for a private teacher on sc2 editor (french speaker)

    Hi

I am looking for a private teacher on sc2 editor, as it is too difficult to start alone. The aim is for me to make a good start, and to understand the bases. As I am french, it would be easier if the teacher would be french speaker. But an english speaker would be also ok. Of course, i would pay for the lessons.

    Thank you !

posted a message on Auto-train units

    Hi

I am working on a module for melee maps, aiming to simplify controls for new or casual players. I am now working on a « auto-train » feature : a left-click on a button will train one single unit, while a right-click will activate auto-train. I started on the SCV.

    Yet :

    • I have create a new button : « SCV train (auto) », by duplication of the « SCV train » button
    • I have associated this button to the command center control panel
    • I have create a new «Effect - instant » from scratch called « SCV train (auto) »
    • I have associated this new effect with the button
    • I have set the effect to enable auto-cast.
    • I have set the autocast validator to « Hangar Queue Empty » (not sure if it is correct).

My problems : Now, I would like to link the effect to the default « SCV train » ability, to allow the training of a scv each time I click on the button. But I don't find where nor how to do this. (I can't find where i can define a « issue order » effect.)

Thank you for your help !

posted a message on [Stupid question] : testing a module

Ok, problem solved. Did not see that their was a tab in the open menu for battle.net content. So I opened a map, saved it on my computer, then set-up the default map accordingly. Now I can test my module without having to re-publish it !

posted a message on [Stupid question] : testing a module

    Hi

I am a very beginner on the sc2 editor and so, I have a very stupid question. I am working on a module, and was able to publish it (and even to play it on a map, in the sc2 client). But I can't test it in the editor : i have an error message saying that « the map can't be open ». I understand this error, as the fact that I don't have a map, but only a module…

In the preference menu, their is a tab about testing document… but the default map which is indicated do not really exist. What map can I use as « default map », and were can I find it ?

    Thank you so much !

Thank you so much for your answer. As you imagine, I am a very beginner with galaxy editor, and you were really helpfull. It works fine now !

(Even I did'nt really apply the « open the UI in text module » instruction, because I wasn't able to open both UI module and text module at the same time).

If I have any other stupid question about the customisation of UI observer, is here the right place to ask them ?

    Best regards. Krystof
