    Rodrigo is saying if you click create game and don't click 'open to public' after clicking create that the time does not count. This is good to know, I had not heard this til now. Interesting...

    posted a message on News regarding Bnet Marketplace

    @greythepirate: Go

    People likely got that idea from the Blizzcon 2009 videos talking about the map marketplace. Dustin Browder said that premium custom maps would need to consist of a lot of custom content. Now that may have been miscommunicated somewhere along the line and someone started saying that there could be no blizzard art assets in the premium maps. As far as I know that statement Vexal made on the second page of comments is incorrect. If you would like to back that up with a source though Vexal I'd be interested in seeing it though. As far as I know Blizzard has never said something to that extent. In fact we can use assets from any of Blizzard's games. We aren't charging for their assets - we're charging for our gameplay mechanics.

    I know some of you guys are brilliant programmers out there. Does anyone have any ideas on how to successfully implement protection on maps? People who maintain this site have Blizzard contacts, and if we come up with something that sounds like a legitimate solution, we could have the idea passed onto Blizzard.

    Define shutdown. If you mean hide the gamplay from the player's view, you can use the "Show/Hide Terrain" trigger. There might be a show/hide world trigger too.

    posted a message on Start listing things that annoy you about the editor and I'll give to Blizzard

    1. Increase the map size limit so we can do great things like implement high quality (legal/licensed) custom music, dozens of custom models with animations, custom voice overs, and custom UI for a few examples. (Major)

    2. Let us know details about the map marketplace far before the marketplace arrives so we can prepare accordingly. Will Blizzard be getting a cut of sales? If so how much? If they do take a cut, could they consider not taking one for the first year or so to allow maximum growth in serious mod teams and help them get off to a better start? (Major)

    3. In the data editor, allow the tabs (Units, Behaviors, Actors, etc etc) to pop out in a seperate mini window so we can see the tabs along the full width of our screens, or adjust the data editor window so the tabs can simply utilize the full width of our screen. (Minor)

    4. Release an optional (or mandatory if you don't mind) content patch that includes more generic models that we can attach to current models and such. For example, melee weapons, guns, and armor. Also maybe include a handful of generic models that would be used to attach these items to without much trouble. You implemented fruit and other objects like dollar signs, treasure chests, and gemstones in a late beta patch, now how about some more diversity in what's available! (Minor)

    5. I've heard in the past that legal issues surround allowing us to be able to post maps to all regions via one account, but I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say that I'd love it if that was possible to do. It would help out tremendously down the road, but I'm doubtful about this one from what I've heard. (Major)

    @Blaaz17: Go

    I've just posted a hotkey trainer about a week ago - go check it out on the North American B.net - simply search for "Hotkey Trainer" - and after you have finished downloading it click the Single Player tab and go to "Versus AI" to play the map without hardly any lag. If you stay in the multiplayer tab and play it from there, it's really laggy.

    posted a message on Nexus Word Wars was banned

    Heya Rodrigo - I remember someone else getting banned a couple months ago - if you lookup "banned" on this site and/or b.net forums - you might find out what happened to the other guy long term. Also - as far as I know Blizzard only looks into maps when a few people click "Report Map - Offensive". Blizzard likely will not be capable of sending you a list of every word that they consider to be offensive - and even if they could, it would probably be considered poor taste - so they wouldn't anyway. (It's not very professional is what I mean.)

    Also - I read a Blizz post a long time ago on the b.net forums that said something very similar to "The words we can use in our game and the words custom mappers can use are not the same."

    The only explanation I can come up with to explain why Blizzard would be allowed to use some words like "ass" and "crap" etc etc and we can't is because at a certain point the game's T for Teen rating in America (or any rating in other countries that isn't already the equivalent of M for Mature) would be required to be bumped up to M (18+) and they could be breaking ESRB rules by allowing more of these curse words into custom maps.

    I wish you luck - and if I remember correctly the guy who had his map banned ended up getting all his mapping privileges back but was warned that if he messed up again there would be more serious consequences.

    I think Blizzard is a pretty understanding company for the most part and will sympathize with you for the most part - but at the same time you have to have the utmost maturity and professionalism with them. The part of the letter you made to them saying "I had no control over this." (the dictionary) sounds, unfortunately, like someone who doesn't want to take responsibility. As far as I know - any content posted by you to battle.net is completely under your control and no one elses. To say that you had no control over what -you- published is what sounds childish. BTW - I'm not saying this to be disrespectful to you Rodrigo, I'm just explaining how I interpret what you're saying to Blizzard so that you can improve your chances of a successful outcome with them.

    The way I would have written a letter about this to Blizzard would have gone something like this.

    Dear Blizzard - My map had access to a dictionary of 32,000 words. While I made sure that it did not contain common curse words - English is not my first language and I am not familiar with anywhere near this much vocabulary. Obviously there were words that some users found offensive and I apologize for this. If given the opportunity to repost my map I will do the following to remedy this problem. 1.Temporarily discontinue use of this dictionary and only use words that I know are not offensive. 2.Have people who are very well spoken in the english language remove any possibly offensive words from the 32,000 word database before using it again. Thank you for your time regarding this matter and again, I am very sorry for this. - Sincerely Rodrigo

    Hope this helps.
