I'm not exactly sure, I believe Curse just has deals with certain companies. They try to get gaming-related ads, but I guess there are some no-gaming ones as well (i've seen a hotel one or two).

But yeah, authors and Curse Premiums won't see ads.

It's entirely possible, especially since they "cancelled" SC: Ghost.
