posted a message on Changing the resource icon

Anyone who wants to replace the ingame UI resources, displayed at the top of their screen.. Just import your new (.dds format) image file with (64x64pixels) named as "icon-mineral-nobg"(for example) set your "File Path:" to "Assets\Textures\" and press save.. todah! your mineral image will now show the picture you have imported. the texture names are: icon-mineral-nobg =Minerals icon-gas-protoss-nobg.dds =Protoss Gas icon-gas-terran_nobg.dds =Terran Gas OR icon-gas-terran-nobg.dds =Terran Gas icon-gas-zerg_nobg.dds =Zerg Gas OR icon-gas-zerg-nobg.dds =Zerg Gas icon-supply-protoss_nobg.dds =Protoss Supply icon-supply-terran_nobg.dds =Terran Supply icon-supply-zerg_nobg.dds =Zerg Supply Assets\Textures\icon-biomass-nobg.dds =(Unknown) Assets\Textures\icon-energy-nobg.dds =Energy AKA Terrazine (Hidden by Default) icon-health-nobg.dds =Custom Resource (Hidden by Default) icon-highyieldmineral-nobg.dds =Rich Mineral Field > Listed last because it is not apart of the ingame UI. But if you would like to replace this texture, you would use this name to do it. The same applies to all names listed previously. Simply Import any file, with size and format listed above, using any of the names and the "Assets\Textures\" file path and all should be well ;)

    Team Genesis

    What is it?

Team Genesis is a custom map making team hosted at sc2mapster.com which can be found here. It is the largest and most active team on SC2mapster.

What is it like to be on the team?

It's usually pretty fun to be able to drop ideas off randomly for a joke or serious consideration. It's nice to have a handful of brains from different experience levels to provide feedback and solutions. We are mostly active on Skype communicating to resolve every issue we come across. We discuss maps, ideas, and other things mostly related to the editing community. Our SC2mapster page is used for formal notices and team organization, usually a great place to share notice of inactivity or new ideas that haven't been smoothed out.

    What are the members like?

Each individual in Team Genesis has differing amounts of experience in various areas. If you'd like to see other maps the team has made, feel free to visit the homepage or contact any other member. We are a team of editors; Everyone here has experience.

Our goal is to improve our skills by creating games that deserve the Team Genesis stamp. Combining our knowledge and skills, weak or strong, is the best way to get things done. Most of us love editing and enjoy the opportunity to present new techniques, sometimes by showing off the skills we have, and other times by solving each others problems. We are almost always willing to help another member.

This is not a team where you start with nothing to offer however; you have to be willing to help in any way possible and we will return the favor gladly.

    TG Requirements:

-Change your profile picture to anything else aside from the default sc2mapster silouette..

-Attach your map to your profile.

-Send a message to any of TG's Moderators intending to show them your most recent or current project.

-Send me (DarcZaFire) or JacktheArcher a message stating what you hope to gain from this team and your "specialty" in the Starcraft Editor.

+_+ We use Skype and TeamViewer for conversation, bouncing ideas, sharing answers etc.+_+

What are the clear differences between modal and non-modal? I have never used these. I see that they are an option next to using a standard dialog window for a voting screen I'm venturing to create.

posted a message on Risk Recruitment

I am looking for someone to do the grunt work in my map. In exchange I will do favors for them in their project, or teach them things, that they may not be able to do yet. I prefer someone active daily. Currently I have a 256x256 terrain that needs to be re-leveled cliff level 1 to 0, cliff level 2 to 1 etc. (I am doing it) but I could spend more time doing more gameplay related editing knowing that things like this would be taken care of.

I have always worked with someone on all of my projects and this is the furthest I have gone without letting someone into it. I say this because I do not want any suggestions, ideas, or feedback; this could change the direction of my game and has, in the past, made keeping up with projects undesirable. I will accept feedback or anything of the sort, but only about the things that I ask. This may seem harsh but I'm simply trying to protect myself from the feeling of being overwhelmed with a project that has changed so much that I no longer have interest in. I simply want someone who needs favors here and there, like myself, to follow through with their end of the deal. I have a team full of people and I am capable of doing these things on my own, but none of them need my help and this could be beneficial for both of us.

Add me on Skype: Grasso2012 please be active daily.

posted a message on To organize, or not to organize? (triggers)

Just thought I'd throw this out here to get some perspectives:

I'm making a map and I tend to just GO! and not be really organized... for example: I've made about 3 periodic triggers that check things, or do things, ever 1 second. I also am aware that I could optimize my triggers, making them more efficient, by putting them into action definitions. I guess you could say my triggering is either lazy, sloppy, thoughtless, illogical, and/or inconsiderate?? lol idk I just know that when the ideas hit I don't concern myself with organization.

My issue right now is, "Is it even worth it?"

The game is in progress; if I clean up now I will add new triggers later anyway, of which will probably land under the labels I've provided above. If I do NOT clean up now, I may miss out on a solid foundation for smooth gameplay... either that or eventually the mess will get so big that my triggers will just be like a word search.. with no words to be found.

So, here's the final question for you; based off your own personal experience (no modesty, just honesty)... Do you clean as you go, or do you steam roll through? And is organization important to you?

posted a message on Public Apology.

    honestly,

Seems like someone spends a lot of time on the forums and chat sights.. So much time that tainted's comments and trolling rubbed them raw, and now hes banned because he said something quite harsh.

I don't know that I've seen anything more publicly unacceptable than the controversial comments from tainted about jews and homo's. But I can speak as the team leader of Team Genesis, on Skype and sc2mapster, that he is a jokester, and this is a sight for games... games which are used to pass time and be light hearted. .... Perma-ban? Serious consequences? If he wants back, let him. If he messes up again, then continue to make it difficult.. eventually he will stop. I'm sure sc2mapster, or any other sights did not suffer member losses.. or any losses aside from the time you've invested in reading these posts and fiddling with the moderator options to ban tainted.

As far as im concerned.. sc2's time is limited with only lotv to be released.. how are you supposed to make the most of the community by banning a skillful and helpful editor? IT'S A GAME! lol let him make his jokes. This is a place of learning and banning tainted from the site doesn't protect the members from the people around the world who are outspoken and opinionated. Let me mention freedom of speech. with that said, what have you accomplished by banning him?

if any moderators don't want to hear or speak with tainted ever again because his comments burn your eyes like acid... then block him, just as any other member would do if he offended them.

posted a message on Paid terrain artist questions.

He is pretty good btw. The person who says so is me. Id rate him as well.. a 7.5 on a 10 scale 10 being the best I have ever seen (Dwarfius, and some other terrains done for cortex roleplay).

I dub myself as a terrainer but then this guy came along and showed me a map and I was pretty awed. I rate myself at a 5-6.. maybe 5.5. It's good to have someone work on your terrain when they love the work and they know what theyre doing for a change ;)

    Keep it up Gore!

Calling any noob editor Risk/diplomacy enthusiasts!

I am extending an invitation to a noob who would like to learn a few things about the editor. In exchange you get to do some repetitive tasks for me; such as stamping no fly zones, some pathing painting, apply text to appear in game, among other basic things.

You can use anything in this map as your own, I will help you with your projects where I know how to, and I will put your name next to mine in the loading screen as a creator/author.

Message me here in this thread, send me a message in private, or on Skype: Grasso2012
