I have a minigame map in the works called 'Minigame Mayhem', it currently features 10 minigames and a complete custom UI.
As an attempt to maximize the fun factor in this map, I would like to ask you all to give me your coolest, most fun, ideas for minigames. Let's face it, I'm just not that creative to come up with the best stuff...
Here's a quick video to show some of the minigames and features of the map so far, it's a quick and dirty video though :)
The aim for the map is for it to be perfect, of course :) I think I did a pretty good job with the UI to be honest, but the gameplay is the most important part.
So I ask of you to think of a good concept for a minigame, preferably following these guidelines:
High fun factor
Re-playability
Chaos / epic randomness
Not overly complicated, it is a minigame after all
8 player support
Let's see what you guys have :) I have a list of concepts myself but they all need to be thought through a few more times, I'll post them later when ideas are running low...
If going with this idea, I strongly advide you to add "small (or large) zerg explosion on impact, it really increases the fun factor of whacking :P, and if it's of any inspiration, I did a Whack-A-Mole (no multiplayer or other minigames) for the minigame contest.
Other than that:
Mario Kart styled racing with powerups.
Labyrinth - navigating through a very dark place with deadends, torches you need to pick up to see further than exactly where you char is standing, and wandering dark templars.
I think I'll make a whack-a-mole type game, but probably with World Mouse Clicked events rather than walking over them ^^
The labyrinth could be something, I had a flashlight darkness game on the list but wasn't too sure about how to go from there... actually I'm suddenly remembering the uther party witch doctor minigame (invisible maze, place ward to see maze for 10s) .... that could work :)
And something with rising lava... I've gotten that far myself :P now the actual game concept :D
Also I'm reluctant to make a race game because of the size of the track, relatively complicated to create and generally quicker to bug
But thanks for the ideas though, keep em coming! :)
So I want to make some kind of tag game, imagine a big diablo chasing a random player, diablo becomes faster and faster, the player can tag others to make diablo chase them. But ... how to make that more fun?
I've heard that before and I do remember the games from Skibi's but I thought most were kinda gold related to improve the tower building... but I'll play Skibi's once more just to check if I borrow those ideas :P
I like your minigames so far (although i dont get the one with probes )
Whenever i think about minigames in SC2 that one from Mario Party comes to my mind:
Guess that would be fun. Maybe i would do that in another way then lowering platforms.
Its quite similar to your nuke one though.
Idea 2:
You have a hellion. Now you try to kill your opponents by ramming them with the front of the car.
(It should kill anything that enters a range of a point in front of the hellion. So you have to hit the others from behind or the side or you will explode too.)
Hope the explanation is understandable :S.
I love mini games :D Iv played a ton but if you dont mind remaking old ideas i would recommend downloading and playing Lost Temple and Uther Party (war3) esp Uther. They had very fun games (Uther has like over 65 games!!)
A cooperative minigame can do, as a way to give points to everyone regardless if teams or alliances.
Maybe "Boss" battles in a way, where if one player lives, everyone gains points.
The catch is that you can also get bonus points for picking up coins in the game (use shapes that blizzard gives you).
So with those ideas in mind:
A "Boss" chase minigame where a Giant Brutalisk is chasing you, and you are running away on a "fixed" screen.
There will be debris/obstacles blocking your way so you have to carefully navigate through them. Coins will also appear.
The boss moves much slower than your unit, but since it takes place on a "fixed" screen, you have to move and wait for more terrain to appear.

... Sweet Jesus (pun), I'm TOTALLY inspired by this idea!! Buffooned even!
I'd love to try to make a minimap with this idea. But with your permission first, do you mind if I steal your idea?
Here's what I have in mind in addition to your idea:
Make 1 player-controlled chaser named "RAARGH" who's going to chase players named "AAAAH"
Each player takes his turn as a RAARGH
I'll place doodads that block line of sight. Fixed and random ones.
4-15 players
At the end the scores are shown for best RAARGH and best AAAAH
What do you think? :)
Please please please if you allow me, I'm going to name it "Xenosteel's RAARGH" and I'll publish it to the EU realm, I'll greatly credit you for the inspiration. I'm going crazy over the idea, I think I won't be sleeping for a couple of days.

Whack-A-Mole. Expect whackers are on field.

The mini-games from Skibi`s Tower defence from Warcraft 3 was kinda fun. Maybe implement some of those and improve it?

Ok so I made a Whack-A-Mole game, left click drops a nuke with a 1s explosion delay.
Now I want right click to do something fun, preferably to annoy other players :)
/me continues next minigame while waiting for perfect answer
Some snake game wont hurt either. Maybe more people and larger area for colliding
It is pretty awesome but I'm not sure how I would turn that into an 8 player game, not to mention its size would skyrocket then :P
@SweetZombieJesus: Go
Well that's just my ways of doing snake. You could do it in another ways I suppose (also wasd will lag, try to use other kind of control
Edit: Check out other minigames for ideas here

I think tigerija was interested sometime ago in developing Mini games. Maybe he has some good ideas that could be useful.

Thanks but for now (at least until release) I prefer to stay a one man team :)

Wanted to make those but I'm too lazy.

Sounds good ;)
What do you mean by fixed screen?
@SweetZombieJesus: Go Force field perhaps?
You could also make the Classic:
Here are three cups, the middle one contains a Ball.
Now watch as I shuffle the cups.
Now find the ball.

Lol nice idea ;D Let's see if I can think of a scarcraft way of presenting that :P
