Don't know if this is the correct session, since is about sounds. Anyway I need ALL the original SC1 briefings and dialogs, where can I find them? How to extract the stuff from SC1 Mpq?
I searched the Internet for a solution and didn't find much. Some people said you could find them in the MPQ on the Starcraft CD, which I had no luck with. It had no game files other than the MPQ's Starcraft installs on the local disk.
The only workaround I can think of is record a video of the briefings and then extract the sound from the video afterwards. Not really the best option out there and rather time consuming.
Does anyone else have any suggestions? I would be interested in getting my hands on the briefing sound files as well.
Ahh, that would explain why the comments about using my CD don't work for me. I have the battle chest version and there is no install.exe, instead it is called StarCraft (Windows).exe
Unfortunately it sounds like a torrent is the way to go if I want the briefings :(
No need to download torrent, extracting from install works fine! If you need them, I'll upload them when I extract all of them. I'll divide them by races and SC and BW. Hell, those folders are heavy: 60 MB for folder, so 6 folders (2 for each race if you consider also BW)) = 360 MB! Does SC2 support mp3s? First Starcraft didn't supported them and used wav files that are heavier than the ultralisk I've got on my avatar. I hope is possible to use these files in mp3 format, they will take half of HD space (and less time to load the game)
edit: After rereading that method that was linked, I realize that my first post of mine already describes the method to extract all the briefings.
I went through and played the first Terran mission and listened to the dialogs and then listened to the extracted ones and they are exactly the same. It also includes dialog from inside the game.

In the original Starcraft you will not be able to use MP3's because only WAV are supported. However, if you were to use them in Starcraft 2 that would be fine.
Thanks for the info, In these days i'll convert all the stuff to mp3 and I upload them somewhere, so people who need them don't have to download huge packs or extracting them with mpq editor
Uploaded terran briefings and dialogs here: Link Removed: http://www.mediafire.com/?v77ko27yvtyjcrg I'll upload protoss, zerg and Brood War briefings later. They are converted to mp3, and they take less than half of .wav files

@TheTorrasque: Go
What you will need
You can get the listfiles and MPQ editor from here: zezula.net
How to extract the sounds
Hope this helps!
I already have campaigns, and it seems there are no briefings and dialogs (only written)

Sorry about that :(

Some time ago I extracted campaigns using this method: http://hi.baidu.com/xtimz/blog/item/1e83eb132aa685c9c3fd7892.html each campaign scenario folder has wav folder in it which contains all sounds from map(briefings and dialogs).
I'll try it, anyway i've found a torrent that contains all the stuff I need. I'll see which is the faster solution (I think yours)

So Starcraft 2 support the mp3 format? If support the mp3, then I convert them
@TheTorrasque: Go
Yep, Starcraft 2 supports MP3's but you will need to use the data editor to implement them in things such as cutscenes or unit responses.
Here is an example map that shows it in action for a cutscene.
