Give it a try! Also remember to subscribe for news and future content. Our channel LeagueofLaughing More features, power ups, baneling types, models, achievements and other stuff coming! Map can contain bugs and the map is not finished yet. I would be grateful if you could give me some feedback, ideas and suggestions from the map. Thank you!
Hi BloodClud, i think that map of yours sounds very interesting. I've always dreamt of running away from banelings xD! Any place I can follow developing of the map?
Oh thanks for your interest! Well I think there were no good running away style maps on battle.net EU (or not popular at least) so I make a decision to make my own ;D But remember that the map is not nearly to finish more like aplha or beta. I think you can follow the map in battle.net checking version xP and of course on our youtube channel I did mention at the end. Gonna publish new version of the map in 10 minutes fxing few bugs and adding some stuff :D If you or someone wanna play with me contact me in sc2 (Feral #497), send me pm or say it in this thread :D I really would like to have full game with 10 players ;P
You seems to be very desperate. Like somebody who didn't know to like his own work so I will say some things directly with only the knowledge from the first post.
First of all, the video is very bad. There is a 40 seconds intro that says nothing, and I mean nothing, about the map. As far as I know there are several other survival maps that are quite similar. So start to ask yourself: What exactly make your map unique? When your answer is "only banelings", start right back from the scratch.
The rest of the video seems to be the natural gameplay. Actually there is no UI, but with the actual status there is no need for one.
What I doesn't understand: are there any objectives for the survivors? (Like going to a saferoom or find a weapon to kill all banelings) Or shall they die after some time? That would be a very annoying gameplay.
To come up with "easy control" is something you shouldn't say. That is the standard Starcraft II control. The only changes are LMB (teleport) and Z (walk; why should I need that?).
Additionally most of the "features" are very common today. Most of them are done in less than 10 minutes.
All of these informations aren't very beneficial for a map with an old concept who want to shine out from the rest, because they throw more questions than answers at me.
The only charm I have now is: are there any bugs or exploits to find? But that isn't a reason to start SC2 and log in to B.net 0.2
I'm not desperate I just wanted to know is this type of map interesting at all. Well I think the trailer says pretty many things, some of the features, player amount etc. You said there is no goal but for an example what's the goal in endless modes, like Left 2 Die endless? I meant the controls are easy because it is the standard controls and if you use walk you got more reaction time what comes ex. behind a cliff...
As I said the map is not even near to finish and the thing I should need is what to make it more interesting/unique... Like adding base building or what?
The main goal of endless Left 2 Die is to survive as long as you can. This is nowhere near similar, because you can try different tactics. (Of course for the first times. After that you've found the most effective way.)
That is a quiet different survival map like yours. You have to run, and that is the only thing you can do. The amount of time you survive are most depented on luck and the positioning of the banelings in behaviour with the survivors. How long should a single game long for? If I'm unlucky maybe 20 seconds or fewer. (only theoretical) Will there be a new round or I have to rejoin a new game?
You said the trailer said some things. A player amount up to 10. Every second custom map have this. What else? Some features... Achievements? What kind of achievments could a map like this have? Survive 5, 10, 15 minutes? What I do all the time? Run! Run, Run and run. Is there any varity?
To come back to Left 2 Die. There are the main mob, Hunterlings, Choker, Spotter and of course STANKS! Each of them have unique abilities and each of them raise the fun factor a lot. Not because they sound similar to the original but they're a good transfer from the original. What've you? Banelings, Banelings and of course banelings. No varity. No fun.
Like I said before: I havn't played the map before because it doesn't sound very interesting because it's mainstream and not unique.
To make a map unique... think for yourself. What about a changing terrain? I don't think you have reached the maximum map size. Go ahead and make more mazes so every time you run the map it's other from before.
To come back to the features. You wrote you can find +2 Experience. What can I do with that? Or is it completly useless? Maybe you can add a safehouse and a talent tree. (You can only assign points when you're in a safehouse, but the survive timer stopped for that player) Only this can make a map unique because there're so many possibilities to "win".
If the only target to survive longer as other survivors, you can also add negative effects for other players.
Only some ideas. I've many more, but I don't want to support other maps effectively.
Ok I gave this a go and I decided to give it a bit of a review please note these are my own thoughts
Things I Liked
Fast Download Speed
The atmosphere and the whole creepy feel to the map is very nice
The use of Voice's make that extra feel to the game
Things I did not Like
Be for I enter the game I can see the full maze
Too much text on loading screen ( I suggest using in game help tips )
as I am not the fastest reader
The unit select thing why on my first play do I have to select the "default unit" to get rid of the box blocking my view ( I suggest a natural timeout )
I got a bit bored after 1:00 of game play due to finding a sweet spot on the map
there I was able to stand and do nothing for 4:00 be for I saw a single Baneling
( I suggest a more random spawn location to stop the use of sweet spots )
I found the sound and music a bit annoying after a short while
Why do I need to Walk Slow ? I cant run off an edge
Things I am not sure of
The control system I just feel a W S A D or Cursor Key control would suite it better
Thanks for the feedback if u can call it that xD. I need to think what should I make to the map... maybe some different ''classes'' with different talent trees or something :D And the experience is used to unlock new models to your runner ;P Thanks for the ideas =)
Thanks. I tried to reduce ''camping'' with the power ups (relics) but seems it got no effect xD If I do random spawn location to banelings they could spawn right to you and kill =S or what do you mean?
I tried mouse movement thing like move unit to mouse location but it doesn't work properly because trigger launches when mouse moves and camera is following runner so the mouse is basically moving when looking terrain but not really so u should shake your mouse all the time lol if u even get what I mean. Walk is used in example when you are running straight forward you got more reaction time if you are walking because the movement speed is reduced then xP
And remember this has been released 2 days ago (If I remember right) and is in very early developement.
Just have to think which way should I take this =)

good point one thing you could do is have a region that is attached to the player and follows the player then a condition that will not allow the banelings spawn right on top of you
another thing I would say you can try a "gauntlet" style spawn system i will explain below in case you never played gauntlet
as you moved around the maze you would see little buildings ( i will call them grave stones )
out of the grave stone would spawn the enemy ( i will call them ghosts )
the ghosts will then come for you like you was the one who killed them
destroying the grave will stop the ghosts from spawning
in the case of your map
a few ( bainling nests ) dotted around the map
have bainlings spawn from the nests

Sounds good and right it gives the winning condition too. Destroy all nests. ;D
I think I will continue to making the map based on your guys feedback. Thanks a bunch!
Yes please do it is a good map with a good foundation a few tweaks and you will have your self a good map :)
@ichewgrass: Go
I did update the map (very slightly) before the real map making start :)
But right now I'm bored to mapping.... Anyway to get inspiration? lol :D
Play maps that are similar to yours and then you have to think: "I can do it better and hey, I always have a project that could be better than this."
That always work when I use that. ;P
This and if you are feeling a bit dry about a map your working on do not force it or it will become more of a job rather than a bit of creative fun :)
@ichewgrass: Go
Well I have been feeling ''dry'' about my map for about few days already xD
I had a map called ''Baneling Run''. Then I changed it's name to ''So Many Banelings!'' and gave it an artosis theme :P.
