If you havn't played my Star Shooter Defense map, go try it now, got to rank 1 for a good 3 days, but now I want to make a good multiplayer shooter, since I feel the games we have now on the list are just the same old tug of war, TD games and nothing orginal. Now I used SSD to test out how capaible the SC2 can handle shooters and I feel it can do it well enough to support 4v4 atleast. Especially when there arn't 100 units on your screen at once.
So right at this moment, I feel I may need some help with this cuz this is a time consuming project and SSD did consume so much of my time as the only person making it. I want to make this well polished and inorder to do that I need more time to focus on the little things while other people do the same as well.
Right now I guess anyone willing to help make a really good shooter that is pretty comparable to the shooters out right now. PM me
I've got the backbone of the shooter and its elements ready, aiming, accuaracy, movement, jump, weapon switching etc. I just need material to add to it, like weapon effects, terrian, perks, killstreaks, sounds, 'more' animations.. etc.
Idea of the map is, there will be different gametypes, CTF, Elimination, Sabotage, FFA, Team Deathmatch, etc...
You choose 3 perks, but these perks can be either passive perks or abilities you can use ingame.
You can choose 3 killstreaks, for example contorl a battlecriuser in the sky rain down hurrican missle pods, or yamato cannons.
You get 1 ability to use, like blink, psi storm, force field, etc...
You must buy your weapons and get credits everytime you get a kill to use. Plan to add a butt load of different weapons each with different effects. This is where I need the most help on, creating these effects. There's just too much for me alone to do.
Bascially if you liked counterstrike, call of duty, shadowrun, I am just gunna take those elements and mix em up while making it better and keep the sc2 theme.
Will make a video demo of my system soon, maybe around start of december, hopefully then I will get some serious help, cuz a lot of my testers are very amazed to how close this system replicates real shooters.
I love the idea of a multiplayer shooter but please don't use Call of Duty elements. Sure it's nice and all but it's far too generic and it'll feel old real fast. I'm sure anyone who would love a Call of Duty style shooter map would probably be playing a Call of Duty game instead. I would say make it more Killzone 2 or Uncharted style. Either a class system or old fashion shooter with guns on the map.
I hope by replicate shooters you don't mean CoD, the most generic shooter ever.
i was thinking generic shooter as in counterstrike. Now that is as generic as you can get. Overall, I am not trying to make another CoD. Its kinda like CoD, counterstrike, rainbow 6, unreal tournment all mixed in one. Of course with the SC2 theme.
I'm just afraid of seeing a CoD style game. If you wanted to you could make it sort of RPG style like Borderlands. Have the player set up a skill tree and then go through that, maybe a skill tree for each class if you have classes. I'd be willing to test the map when you're ready to have it tested. I would love to help balance out a shooter map. I don't want to see it broken like MW2 or others.
It won't be where in cod you can get like 15+ kills once u get the attack helicopter. It won't be that broken, I'd say you could prob get around 5 kills with a similar killstreak say the attack wraith, before getting shot down. Overall, i won't over do it with the perks or killstreaks and keep it more run and gun or ground war based with just some stuff in the sky. Of course if you get to 25 killstreak I think its its safe to award you with a contorlable BC that just rains hell all over. But i want this to have tons of choices.
I dont like the skill tree or RPG based game, cuz I hate making another DOTA, i am just sick and tired of DOTA MAPS! and tug of war maps
We need a good shooter game on SC2 and I think I can provide that.
I didn't think Dota when I thought RPG. Well I can't wait to see how it turns out. Are you going to make a killstreak a nuke? Say 50 kills equals a nuke. Really if someone gets 50 they deserve it. When I mentioned RPG I just meant skill trees for the perks. Like set up multiple perks, say 20 and in each tree there is 5, two passive and 3 that can be either passive or ability.
Also if you're adding snipers please make them useful, Black Ops makes it impossible to be a sniper. I have no idea what it is but sniping is just not efficient.
