make a icon selection system that you call a function and it returns the string of the selected icon from the window
has to support 15 players at the same time accessing it....
lets say it has about 200 different icons to select from...
it also needs the ability to turn disable or (greyed out) so that a player can not turn them off
all variables stored in a record
Player[player][Icon id number] type Boolean.... this would control if the icon is available.... to that player
Icons[Icon Id] type string ...... holds the reference to the asset for the icon (use this array to display all their values

dialog.... if your a programer it would be of similar function to an input box

I rephrase..... its a list of 200 dialog-item-images about 20x20 image items that the user would click on to select it and then press a done button
if you look at my link to my dialog leaderboard library on my sig .... its for that leader board....
but its open to anybody who wants to use any of it.....
the functionality would be like my input box function on that map where it requests a string input from the player and then returns the inputed string. "" is handled as a cancel.
just thought id try and farm something out since your looking for something to do.

Right. It's actually fairly easy since I already had to do something like this for a map I have yet to release. There are still a few snags which I plan to iron out tomorrow, but it shouldn't take long, I suppose is what I am getting at.

As you can see, there is a panel for the viewing of the button and then an actual window with which it is set to, If the button's image has already been used, it prevents further use by disabling your ability to lock in your choice. However a second set of the same conditions further prevents bugs.
You can re-size these windows to your hearts content and put them where you'd like them. I took the time to look over your map and imagine you'll be using this for custom icons in the initial leaderboard and nowhere else? I didn't want to assume, but if you'd prefer just share a little more info and I'll fit it to work in the map the way you like.
1. Where are the images supposed to be locked to? I.E. Where does the player's icon appear at once locked in?
2. Where would the selection screen go and how large should it be?

Actually I had thought of that and that is somewhat of a problem. I don't know any way to automate this correctly. So I would have to manually create each button.
In addition, I would manually have to set a variable and remember what each variable was for to call them later.
I understand this was not what you desired. However, this works much similarly in that you can just pick through a list of icons that wraps back around. On the same side of the coin, I could probably set it up to make the icon not appear, however I could not figure a way to grey it without making the picture disappear entirely.
If you know a good way to automate the button process, I could have exactly what you want in a matter of a day to two days. Otherwise I appreciate the work either way and your interest in my abilities however short lived. :)

Im not sure what Yaksmanofage level of experience is as i don't have the editor available atm to see his map but im sorry to say its seems a little basic. For what your looking for i think i just did a set of triggers for a exercise map that has the underlying concept of what your looking for. Please see my post http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/triggers/43442-triggering-monthly-exercise-6-dialog-mini-game/#posts. Bascially its a reversi game that works of an automated 8x8 grid what is instantly updated as well predicts moves and calcuates solutions in each row. Perhaps this is something your looking for as it seems your basically looking for something like blizzards portrait/rewar selection screen and i might be willing to put aside and hr or two and pump something out. Let me know waht you need.

Where would these icons appear? Dialogs? In the unit's portrait somehow? I haven't been online in ages, is there a player icon spot now?
EDIT: Is this solely for icons or is these supposed to be text that goes with it?
Is this for a project or are you just wondering if I can do it? If it's for a project please supply the map/mod file.

Wasn't looking for any integration.
Yes its to allow the player to change what icon they have displayed for themself. This is saved to the players banks.
Ranks and achievements will unlock the icons as players play.

well I cant fault you for trying but its not exactly what i was looking for.
I was saying more like displaying all 200 buttons in a grid... and greying out the ones the player hasn't earned

Actually, I've decided my interests no longer lie in mapping. I'll still dink around in the editor from time to time but that's about it.
