Well im making a SC2 version of War of the Ring, im trying to make it as accurate as possible (No Flying Protoss stuff called Boromir Lol).. Melee Units are what they are, and ranged units are mainly marines until i can get models for them.. :)
And yes, Witch King = Uber until death, but in the books it tells you why he got hurt like that.
Basically, Merry was given a sword from someone who filled it with a certain magic which is only able to kill The Witch King Himself, And merry stabbed him in the back of the Knee, which weakened him a lot, and then she finished him off.
My parents took me to the cinema when the first movie aired. I haven't really heard much oh LotR before that and I expected something boring (especially 'cause my parents said they liked it :P).
What I then saw blew my mind pretty much, I do like the movies a lot.
I haven't read the books, tho. And I probably won't for a long time.
I love them. I've never finished the Fellowship of the Ring. However, I did read the "Prologue" to all the books: The Hobbit. Anyone read that one? It's a great story. It's about how Bilbo got the ring in the first place.
I find the movie long winded, boring, and almost felt asleep at some points. But the battle and special effects is truly epic. (my first ever definitions of epic)
Also tolkien's world is really diverse and I thank him for making wc3 possible.
I see your "The Hobbit" and raise you a "The Silmarillion". Google it. Did anybody get past the second chapter of that book?
Also, Zizz, I have the same thing - I now see the movie in my head when I try to imagine Middle-Earth. The thing is that I don't really care though, the way the movie depicts the place is so perfect I really don't need any other imaginations.
Ye, Lotr is awesome. Watched the films, read the books (hobbit and Lotr itself) like 3 times, and time to time listening to audio book (voice actors there are so damn good).
However I find Silmarillion sort of boring. Shame on me, but I didnt manage to read more then around 30-40 pages. Pure boredom.
Seems like I'm of a bit of a different opinion, I actually found Silmarillion to be the best of the books. I love the stories and the world in the LotR trilogy, and the movies are amazing, but I never really enjoyed the way Tolkien wrote the books, in my opinion, he feels too much lika professor rather than an author, and his books were never that exciting the way they were originally written. I guess the reason I like Silmarillion is because it's supposed to be sort of a History Book for the world :)
Ive played that one your talking about Mozared, it isn't that great... Shelob is a Colossus, and the Mouth of Sauron is that Epic Battlecruiser... I should be releasing a Pre-Alpha WoTR map shortly.. Which has no heroes or upgrades, just all-out warfare.

Interesting note: Tolkien WAS a professor. I wrote a paper on his bio once in High School.
I would like to know who are fans of these awesome movies, and books... And What you liked most about them..
Me:
@Pshyched: Go
I love LotR. Movies were brilliant. Never read the books.
Too many reasons to list. So I`ll conclude that its just plain awesome in almost every way.
Though I think the Witch King got a crappy ending in the third movie.

Some of the best movies ever, 'nuff said. Obviously, books are seriously grand as well - it's definitely an interesting world Tolkien came up with.
True that.... Do any of you guys like LoTR Maps?
Liked 'm a lot in WC3, only seen one around in SC2 so far - haven't tried it, but it looks to be 'meh'. Still waiting for a good silmarillion map.
I just started reading the 3in1 Edition in english (I am from Germany) my brother kept in his pile of books.
Of course I read the whole trilogy about 8 years ago, but now I want to read the original words written down by professor Tolkien ;)
Hey I am working on a BfME map too ;), or let's say, I started modelling for it^^
Arda is the greatest epic fantasy world ever created.
I've seen the movies so many times that it killed my imagination for the books.
Hopefully when I'm old and gray my memory will be shot to the point where I can once again envision my own personal Middle Earth.

Here are two deleted scenes from the 3rd movie. Your`ll probably might have seen them but, anyway
Mouth of Sauron
Witch King/Gandalf encounter
:P I know about the Silmarillion. I've never read it, though.
