My parents want me to have my dad's 2004 red Ford Focus that's got 100k miles on it. I want a dark blue Mitsubishi Lancer (not the evo, just normal) or a Chevy Cruze or something. I'll take dad's car (if you can even call it that) for now I guess. First car's usually aren't what one wants, believe me, I know that. However, what would make a good chosen car? Style, saftey and price all matter. Also, it better not be a "chick car."
While I have your ears, I also wish to whine that I am sick with something. I got a small stomach-ache, bit of a headache, and my nose was being a pain earlier. Been tired all day not to mention had gym AND lifting all last week.
About your dad's or whatever the car you're stuck with, go on an empty parking lot and start making 360ies, then complain that you deserve better... the best about "race cars" is you can get them on circuits... in real life they are boring and stolen ;)
Yes, i prefer the vintage but the new and improved seems ... well.. breathtaking! (anyone can save up to test out any one of these monstrous machines, just gotta have a clean 4/5 years driving "history")
Well you got to buy a scarf too, and scarfs are expensive ;)
my first was a 94 ford telstar.... but damn it had some grunt, I now drive a 07 lancer. But to me its just a car as long as it gets me from A to B safely without falling apart. I'm not complaining.
I don't see much point spending thousands of dollars on a car that loses value quicker than you can blink

I got an 09 Nissan Versa about 3 months ago and it rides pretty good. The Nissan Sentra is the same car under the hood just not a hatchback. Just my 2 cents, but I'm not a big car fanatic so I only care about carting people and stuff around while having plenty of room.
Omg. God forbid you drive a 7 year old car with 100,000 miles that you got for free!
My first car was a 1983 Plymouth Horizon (about the same as an Escort from that era), and it was a piece of crap! I also had to pay for it ($500). I loved it because it was mine.
I know from experience that something you didn't buy for yourself is something you won't truly appreciate. Deal with the hand-me-down car. Consider yourself lucky. If I was your dad I'd make you go half on a car, because it's the only way you'd truly respect the automobile. Otherwise, you'd like get in an accident and/or mistreat the car because it has no value to you. I know because I've been down that road.

The cars you drive when you're a teenager are supposed to be pieces of crap. They have character. They make great stories.
When you get out into the real world and start making some money, then you can start thinking about your dream car. I, myself, still have never owned a new car, but last year I was finally able to get a car I had wanted for a long time: a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS. I respect and love this car a great deal, because an awful lot of my hard-earned money went into getting it. But man does it look sexy with the top down.

These are the ones I found and really liked. All new, so not going to get any of them. This just shows you some of the models I like.
Driving is like growing wings
Get new tires and check the brakes... and finish your dad's wreck with respect,
while saving money for the car of your dreams (that you could afford)...
and remember "with great power (a driver's license") comes great responsibilities"
get a german car ;)
i drive one (golf 15 years old) and like my macs, they continue working even when specialists say they shouldn't..
Well I guess I should probably get a decent job so I don't have to drive this forever (not dad's, his is red).

Free car? I have to pay upfront for mine. Take what you can get, buddy. If you don't like the car, get it serviced and painted.
@Reaper872: Go
Awesome huh? :P
Best first car is an old, trashy car!
it is red O.o why is it red
