Just installed last night.... It is definately not your standard MMO
Its more action game then RPG
Plays like X-men Legends if you have ever tried it.
Character creation
Movement Types
Super Speed
Acrobatic
Flying
PVP
Heres a little bit of pvp .... keep in mind there are no "auto attacks" in the game.... every attack is a button press much like your standard action game. This is out for PS3 as well
Heres my player info if anybody from here wants somebody to play with ( PC version BTW)
Server Type: PVP
Server Name: DEATH AND GLORY
Char Status: Villian
Char Name: Hell Bender
Char Group Role: Healer
Basically gonna go healer. Healing in this game is pretty fun... because you gotta dps to get power back... you get mana from dpsing basically. The mechanics are nothing like wow whack a-mole healing. Though you can not target party members in this game ... or well I should say you cant click thier portraite to target them..... it really pisses some people off from what I can tell in the forums.... in either case im excited...
My character is gonna be sorcery... thats a healer arch-type.... duel wield pistols.... acrobatic movement..... duel pistol weilding(this allows you to get combos fast which is primary way to build energy back, for things like healing) I had a good time designing my character and costume=)..
first level was exciting...... hit level 3 by the end of it.... it did tend to turn a bit into a button mash of me just gunning every thing down.... a tad bit like devil may cry with the pistols.... but not as cool..... i did get to learn one cool pistol skill where I roll backwards unloading on enemies before the level ended.
From another friend of mine that plays on PS3.... he said max lvl is about 30 and it takes roughly 30-40 hours of game play to reach that point.
Didn't find it as intriguing as most, but it's definitely a nice game. I found AoC to be more to my liking, in terms of Combat & Style. I'll try RIFT this week, maybe with Livestream, for those interested.
Hmm yeah it looks like DC Universe might be a nice MMO, but the quest system is horrid.
Also Rift wasn't really that impressive, the game runs slower on my PC than Crysis.
The quests were boring/repetitive, the rift events are almost all the same and sometimes even too overpowered for the attacked zone.
I've been wanting to try out DC Universe Online for a while, but the silly people haven't started with trials yet and I cba to pay for two subscription-based MMOs

Yeah you gotta take your MMO's one at a time.....
This DC universe... is more casual based / pvp (good vs evil) kinda thing though.... no idea how long itll take to bore me but... its fun none the less for a game to play for a little while. And its sony based.. so if I get bored I can come back to it in 20 years and pick up where I left off... Kinda like EverQuest

I've only found a liking to Fantasy MMO's, Sci-Fi/Superhero/etc has never interested in me, I even took the time to watch some DC Universe videos and it is not appealing. :(
RIFT though...Man that looks amazing. World of Warcraft is good too...but it is getting old for me...I want something more new, so RIFT ftw! :D
I have no experience with the PC version but the PS3 version is buggy. It feels as if the beta meant nothing to them. They should have stayed in beta for a month or two to fix problems. I personally feel it's like champions online(which is going free tomorrow, I think)
It's a "PlayStation®Home" item, and since I don't own a PS3, if anybody here plays DC Universe Online on PS3, feel free to use it:

I didn't find this game really interesting. The quests get repetetive very fast, there are also 1 player instances ( I don't know what they are actually called) in which you do have to a series of quests for a villian/hero, against a villian/hero (depending on what side you choose), that bugged quite a few times for me, forcing me to reset the instance and to whole thing over again. Also, the Hall of Doom is big and a maze, I've spent about 20 minutes searching the respec room, the map was not very helpfull.
Also, you have to subribe before you get your first free month!
You don't have to have a subscription before the first free month, at least on the PS3. Anyways the Hall of Doom is way easier to follow then the Watchtower. Hall of Doom is just a giant circle with the tier gear below and then the central area to buy legends and the respec area are. Then behind each wing is something else, usually don't go there. I find it easier to walk through there.
I don't know... MMO's sort of died for me after a few years of WoW. Also seems like any other company's MMO's are just hollow or unpolished etc... and for the most part I've been right about that guess. But the videos do look cool... world seems a bit empty but cool nonetheless.
I stopped buying games outside of Valve/Blizz and I don't own consoles anymore. But don't blame me lol, blame bad game developers for scaring me away :O
I do buy iphone games once in a while... lot of apps that you try for 5 seconds and then quit too... but there's some great ones out there.
Back to MMO's though, don't you remember those awesome first few months of WoW soulCarverr? Regardless of what people think of it now... those days were magic to me... nothing like it.

lol? PS3 isn't buggy. It must be you man. Have you ever tried putting a MMO together with 100,000 + people playing??

Game is a little buggy meh....
basically they took the Unreal Engine and built an "Action MMO" out of it....
Ive had bugs pop up here and there.... but Ive seriously enjoyed this game quite a bit more then questing in WOW....
Maybe its because I used to be a big super hero fan and to this day still watch every new adaption of the comic books into movies/ animated films
I may cap my lvl in it and then never play again eh .... money well spent in my book anyways
Most games I buy these days I dont even play for more then 4-5 hours.
