What is Data Monday?
Data Monday is a segment of SC2Streamster. During Data Monday, I teach just about everything there is to know about the Data Editor. It is expected that you have opened the editor before, but it is not at all expected that you are a master by an stretch.
What? Huh? Why would I do this and not do something else?
Because I will slap you. Also, Data Monday is a perfect opportunity to ask me questions live, and have me show you the solution right there live, in the Data Editor itself. You can open the Data Editor and watch the stream at the same time, while following along.
Wow that sounds... really boring.
Yes it does SOUND really boring, but I promise you that I consistently show visuals and in game footage of the final result. I will soon be adding a small video at the top right hand corner of the screen that repeats itself over and over again, reminding you the awesomeness you are working toward. Also note that you can tune in and out, and you should be able to get back in and rolling without a problem.
So is there a set schedule for each cast?
Yes, usually. The first 10 minutes is the intro, where I explain an overview of the day's topic, providing in game examples and explanations. For the next 30 minutes I explain the steps one by one, explaining what each does and what it is used for. This step may go long sometimes. At the end there will ALWAYS be a Q&A. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS. If you want to skip the first 50 minutes of the show and just tune in to ask some questions, that is totally fine.
When is the cast?
Ummmmm, Monday? Lol it will start at 7:00 GMT - 5 every Monday, and go for about an hour and a half. I aim for an hour, but it always goes long. I will be adding in more time zones to avoid confusion.
Data Time (New Segment)
Data Monday will now include a segment called "Data Time", where I go through and actually solve your problem for you, LIVE! All you do is submit your map below, and then tell me what the problem is. I will then take 10-30 minutes at the end of every show explaining exactly what the problem is, and how you can go about solving it. For this segment, as it is after the 1 hour time slot, I may use triggers if necessary. HOWEVER I will still try to avoid them at all costs, unless you tell me specifically otherwise.
Stump The Teacher (New Segment)
This time slot will be rotated with "Stump The Teacher", where you submit a particularly complex data problem and try to see if I can figure it out! If I can, (which I sometimes might not be able to), then I will demonstrate the idea live with a step by step instruction!
If I have time, sometimes I will combine these two segments together and do both in one day!
On Another Note
If you have anything that you think would make Data Monday more interesting, more fun to watch, and more informative, please, do not hesitate to comment!
NEXT WEEK ON DATA MONDAY
The time to work on my long abandoned Tug of War style map has returned, and with it comes a ton of cool abilities and actor work. I will be spending the next couple of Data Mondays going over various aspects of the amazing awesomeness the stems from making a hero's abilities. Here is what we will be learning on Monday: Well, actually only the second ability (Starts at 1:00). The primary attack will be linked with another day, when I go into some advanced stuff with beams and persistent effects.
If you have any questions, comments, hate mail, or anything you want me to answer DURING THE LIVE BROADCAST, please post it below. Or just random nonsense, but just don't make the thread too cluttered.
