Well I was working on a custom map a long time ago... roughly 6 months or more and the map bugged out and it made me just give up on the editor all together.. and now I have the urge to try try again after all this time, the only problem is i forget everything i knew how to do lol... so im posting this thread to ask a few nub questions to get me back in the groove, my first question is a doozie... i can't seem to figure out how to make the editor show me the game view... so can anyone please help an old nub out and tell me what i have to press to see the game view in the editor?
Hit "V" to show everything as it looks ingame
If you mean the game camera angle, go to view -> camera -> Game Camera (cant remember what the hotkey was)
Alright next nubby question incoming, Is there a way to have a walkable platform that floats in the air or do i need to just build cliffs? i tried throwing a few doodads down and giving them bigger heights but the marines i placed just placed on the ground. Again i know these are nub questions and i apologize im just trying to get back into the editor.
Thats a trickier one, I think you'd have to go into footprints... Look bridges work in footprints and create new footprints for the models of the walkable platforms.
Back again, I was wondering if anyone knows a good tutorial or can explain to me here how to do two things. I need certain units to spawn in a region then once all of the units are all dead i need another region to spawn. I've figured out how to make the last region do what i need (teleport the players unit to another region) but i've gotten stuck now on the initial spawning of units or atleast just once the units in the area die the new region spawning... otherwise people can just bypass all the mobs and teleport out of the area to the next. Any reply is appreciated :D
Edit: I've figured out how to make units spawn on map initialization in a certain region but i can't seem to figure out how to get them to the xyz that i want them at, all i can do is random point in the region, center of the region, top right of the region or bottom left of the region. I still cannot figure out how to get a region to spawn once all units within the main larger region have died.
Can anyone tell or show me where the shield amount given by the psi shield is located? ive searched and searched threw the data editor for where the amount given is at but i cannot find it. i know it gives the unit 300 shield but i dont know where it is in the editor to change the amount. Any help is appreciated :D
