whoa that sounds highly underwhelming...isnt it already obvious people dont really want to read stuff and why would they try to look at the maps that cannot be played...
well remains to be seen what they got for us. I think bnet will be the key factory wheter ill get hots or not
I think you're dumbing down the average battle.net player. Even if an average battle.net player is too stupid to read stuff, I still appreciate feedback from those who do read stuff and enjoy my map. Most people don't bother going out of the game to find your map on sc2mapster or mailing you with feedback.
This will make it easy to get feedback and that's something I really welcome.
I am not trying to convince you. If you don't like making maps if they're not opened with open arms by the community, then by all means, don't get HotS. Although, that probably means you should stop making maps all together since you probably wont be able to keep up with the awesomeness of the additions in HotS.
I create because I like it, not for others to enjoy it. Although it is nice to get feedback and know others enjoy it as well.
I miss game categories. Players won't give their 5 stars to a map which doesn't fit in the game category they enjoy to play. Thats the main cause why the current fun or not system isn't working.
For example, I don't enjoy footies, so I will hardly give 2 stars to a well made footy map.
UI editor and feedback page are great improvements though.
I never liked radio so I don't feel like listening to some dudes talking about it. When will all that stuff be gathered in a wall of text so I can catch up?
Annnnd that's that! Blizzcon Special #2 is finished. That leaves only episode 3 tomorrow at the usual time (noon for western US). We're probably going to be picking 1 more winner. And finally....You guys helped us set a new record for our show. Thanks to all who watched!

Thanks to everyone who watched :) Seeing that viewer count shoot past 100 made me feel more important than I am! lol
Tune in tomorrow again, we'll have Kafoso, the maker of spellstorm, as our guest, and we will do a recap of blizzcon as well. We'll try and get Sixen into the show if he is available tomorrow, but that's a bit unlikely.
Tomorrow is gonna be the standard mapcraft, so its Mozared, Eiviyn and Me plus our guest Kafoso, and if Zelda comes home on time, he'll join us as well.
So can anyone explain what the queue is? From the images and posts all I see is a newly designed popularity system... which somewhat mimics the apple store more (a design which works for apps but bnet games are much different in nature since they require active people).
Overall the news is okay. I guess a bit underwhelming since the editor is already such an amazing tool. More concern for me is on Bnet itself.
The queuing system image says "Your game will be played!". Can someone who watched it fill me in? Thanks.
I mean I'm not whining but I have concern over a simple lobby system not being present (still)... for both myself and the community. I mean personally (based on my experience) I can get my maps popular relatively easily... but not everyone is in my position and on top of this I can't just test my maps easily at any given time (without rounding up and bugging friends).
But yes. You publish your never-before-seen map. You host it. Wait a little while, and you WILL get people in your lobby. Basically when people use the fun or not (AKA the "find me a random game") feature, they get put into active lobbies of people who haven't had anybody join. The longer you wait, the higher priority you get. So you may need to wait a few minutes, but the system eventually moves your map up to #1 priority and sends people into your game.
So it's all good. And there's also multiple lists to help you get that map popular once you get it tested. Watch mapcraft- we went over all it.

Meh I prefer youtube over streams lol. Just my opinion. And there's a lot of people who don't watch mapcraft (or can't etc...) so it's helpful to have you type it out...
But anyway, thanks for the update. This is truly awesome news then indeed! Maybe Rodrigo can finally rest in peace!! (or rise from the grave he seems to have disappeared to lately? lol).
Edit: Finally watched that video. Gotta say I really love everything, except I'm not sure where the fun or not section is in the arcade?
Seconding the request to have a typed out version. I don't particularly want to spend an hour wading through a livestream to figure out what the next editor features are gonna be >.>
Edit: The biggest thing that concerns me is that Blizzdota might be a little too much like "DotA for Dummies" for me... :/

Just start the stream NOAW!!! >:)
Oh and BTW they were talking about a queue system for custom maps too that will allow older created games to start first than others.

Its more like the longer you sit in a lobby, the more chance of player queued up for your hosts.
@progammer: Go
Okay so say I publish my new map for the first time EVER. I go ingame. I go host it. I wait. Under the current system, let's say no one joins.
Does this change under the new arcade?
Thanks.
@OneTwoSC:
Sommmebboddy didn't watch MapCraft. >_>

As I understand it, it just means fun or not prioritizes oldest lobbies first, so sooner or later you'll get a flood of people from that.
Blizzcon coverage was really epic guys buy IMO what really made it extraordinary was that scrolling marquee text telling you to PM zelda.
Just had to :P

So any player who "joins" can`t choose what he wants to play? he just gets tossed into a random game?
This new art tools include the portraits too? or we will never be able to do portraits?
potaits are "normal" models so you will be able to do them
did i miss the reveal of the sc2 potrait/decal in the opening ceremony?
