We had a nice time playing these maps. I see there are really good mappers on this comunity. All the maps I played was very well done and polished.
- Room Wars: It has a very original gameplay. It seemed to me as some kind of short minigame. Rounds lasted quite a few time, maybe because I was a noob at this game :P. We had to play with 4 AI players. They worked quite well, but I think AI should attack the best player in the round instead of the one who is about to lose. In this case I was the worst player and AI was attacking me all the time :D. I would suggest to make the game last longer, maybe you can make the map bigger, add more rooms, etc...
- CoreFight: This was my map :P. I have to fix lag. I'm trying to add some option to deactivate weather effects, lighting, camera shake... depending on the player's fps. Force field seems overpowered, as they completely make artillery useless.
- NotD: Spec Ops: I'm not used to play coop survival games, but it seemed interesting. I was the one who survived the most!! The game seemed too easy because of the begginer dificulty thing. I got the Firebat, and I couldn't kill anything because the marines killed everything before the enemies get close to me. I'll try to play it on dificult mode next time :D. It seems a bit difficult to learn how to play it when you play it for the first time. There were tons of items on the floor and I didn't know what most of them were they used for. Anyway, I guess this game is the kind of game you need to play many times in order to master it.
Ah, I was just a tiny bit late... I would've joined too. Hello everybody, I'm new to the forum, and I look forward to other Friday or Saturday EU map nights. Pleasure to meet you all.
Well, Map Night is officially over after... uh... 4 hours?
Please post all your feedback! Seriously! We needs moar feedback! Especially me on my map Gates of Darkness, people kept writing in the chat about stuff for me to do but i was too busy dying >.>
Anyway, this was really fun and i hope to do it again next week ;) Let's hope Wolf gets a better mic by then and can be heard :p
Core Fight:
Medics are OP, protoss have very little unit choices (didnt get any of the other races...). Apart from that, better than i expected :) I hope you kick Nexus Wars off the top of the list.
Snipers Promod:
Really fun, only one thing i would change: Allow players to zoom out further and give a top-down view if possible, current field of view is just too small...
Room Wars:
Well, i doubt i have to say anything, i talk with Fulla almost daily and tested this map a billion times with him...
Card Warriors:
Very nicely made.
p.s. Ultras are OP
NotD Spec Ops:
Was fun, but easy (well, we DID play on beginner mode). As guy-with-unspellable-name said, takes a while to learn. Curse of all good maps...
Anyway, some of the custom models looked really strange (low settings)
Combo Arena
Great concept and how it's made, it's definitely got a good future. A bit confusing at first and i sucked balls, so yeh...
The map with the islands:
Needs more mobile units... It turned out too much like TvT: Mass tanks, which were immobile.
"- NotD: Spec Ops: I'm not used to play coop survival games, but it seemed interesting. ... The game seemed too easy because of the begginer dificulty thing.... I tried it casually (correct me Malkavanian but i think it was on hard) = got raped, didn't have fun yet
and i'd say it takes two or three goes at it... (love the no extra life feature, might not be as well received by others..?) and it seems great...
I'd say the re playability with: number of maps / permutation possible at map change / team strategy
is real high... could even be addictive among friends... vs other friends..
Iit's a team's game which is fine... so the hosting has got to be top notch (like any new map/mod/game anyway)
Look forward to have time to get the hang of it...
I'd be up for any testing (not into non real time maps/mods much though) ... any map.. however I got work to workaround... plus obligations...
I'm littlenemo 847 on eu / fcrance on skype (always invisible for work purposes, often on)
If you feel like it, check whether the stream is running on Fridays, which it should for a long time after 7 PM, and if it's on just wait till the current game is done, leave a message on the streams chat (i check it every few minutes and between games) and we'll wait for you.
Furthermore I have a mod melee (melee mod) I'd like a full house on... (4 players and possibly on vent/ skype more / other "talk app" so as to get decent feedback / fun ratio... an obligatory feature i must add...)
Map name, map thread/project page please. I, Wolf and Vakuza (wolfs friend) are on skype the whole time (As you can hear on the stream).
My wip (that needs extra models/sounds/graphics/ the whole nine yards / but couldn'tfindhelptodoit
On eu: Maelstrom Temple, an attempt to go towards a more easy quick and dirty melee gamefeel...
4 player map... 1v1 2v2 (would be best i think...) or 4 player trying to get a fun game... game expectancy time wise 30 minutes tops before someone is clearly ahead... rinse and repeat...
Plus i have several maps to plug it on (that i think complement the opness of the feel of the mod) or would gladly link it to any melee or non melee map type from someone else...
I had it uploaded here as sc3... feedback on any map thread for it was slight to say the least.. so:
Oh, there's the name. /facepalm
Thread link plz though
Did i answer everything? Sorry again for not answering earlier... was just making quick posts, and the last one i made was at 1 am for me and i wanted to go to sleep.
No worries (hosting is time consuming, even threads)
stream: dully noted, thanks (i thought sc2 bratchannel was best, but grandpa's not so good/hates learn social networks' etiquette, so will do...
My wip needs fixing and my workload is too erratic to define in any other way: if i'm on sc2mapster (on bratchannel or site), just message me and i'll join or raincheck"with pleasure (i know how hard it is to test 12 player maps.. even 4 dedicated ones...
As for newbiness it's just a matter of starting with a good walkthrough, good coaching ingame for 2/3 games and voila... then you can really test out/add/comment/judge...
..if done in that fashion, in two hours you're golden (if the mod/map is your cup of tea of course)... i'm always up for that...
Again, visiting great mods is THE BEST experience we'll all get out of sc2 (quantity wise, one's own mod being played out while you obs is the quintessence of course)
It was fun. I would like to see more new maps, so if there are some silent map makers they should join map night.
Hopefully we will see map night again sometime (doesnt have to be weekly).
edit* and as for the gates of darkness, I guess it needs quite a bit of work. I didnt like the lighting, hero skills didnt seem to work/be balanced (atleast with my thor). And maybe add some variety to it, it was pretty much same monster all the time (alltough thats what hero sieges are most of the time). It would be nice to have a bit more challenge (dunno if we were playing on easy or what). and fix the lagg in the end.
Map Night is weekly :) See you on Friday hopefully
Yea, gates of darkness needs work, but its hard to get things done without feedback >.> I scrapped the Shock Cannon ability from the Thor and added a channeled AoE damage ability, which will have a lot more levels.
Lag in the end will be fixed as soon as i can bother to (have to create new units and new spawning triggers and scrap everything that's there... didn't work out well anyway), i'll be adding way more abilities for heroes as well (and far more levels), it's just quite some work i don't feel like doing at the moment >.> And the Thor is one of the most troublesome heroes because the original abilities are hard to balance and only one can be used >.> That's why i'm scrapping shock cannon and adding more. Other heroes will get more abilities as well.
What abouzt the lighting didn't work? I recall something about too bright colors? I'll try and fix that. As i said, i haven't had any feedback for a long time, so while i might like how stuff looks, i don't know whether others do...
Another thing i fixed already is that there's text above the beacons to make it obvious what they're for... i can't believe i didn't think of that before...
If you have spell suggestions for heroes, can you post on my project page? it should be linked in my sig.
Even though, I could not join earlier (and was absolutely terribad at every single map we played xD), it was fun.
I might throw in a test version of my hero line wars map for this event some time (well, right now its still not really ready to be tested in a real game, unfortunately).
Thats just if you guys are interested, of course ;).
Core Fight:

well its my map im still working on it but the second time we played it was really lot of fun lol i was laughing the all time xD
Room Wars:
great map and enjoyable :p
Card Warriors:
its fun but need some balance
NotD Spec Ops:
very complex game i thing ill get into it later lot to explore
Combo Arena
I love this map i think he should really finish it :p
Map with the lava Tag smthing:
was really fun too
I think that's it...
i think next time Wolfling could restart stream for each map so its easier to get their VODs instead of having to try find the maps in the middle of a 3 hour stream.
or is it possible to separate it in livestream itself ?
would be nice if we could have links for the maps vods

I had the idea of DLing/Frapsing the livestream recording, cutting it apart and then uploading it to my youtube channel. But during this Map Night we really didn't do much "commentating" but just chatted a lot and, if on the same team, organized ourselves.
I'll get a bigass sticker and stick it on my screen (the other one, i use 2) to remind us to be "professional" (pfft..) and comment on the maps to make the stream at least slightly "informative", and then i'll put everything up on the channel.
Also, i think there were some problems with microphones/recording settings? Everyone except Wolf was quiet afaik (i had the stream muted, no one likes infinity loops)
If I may, you should make two products: the "whole" and the "edit quick highlight" (that covers it all in 5 minutes) ... that's already a lot of work..
it'd be my pleasure to help and post the edited quicky for the mid week (next tuesday/wednesday)
that might push people to engage more verbally and be less internal... casting requires getting pump up

Good idea... I'll try and make a 5 minute video as well and post that. it'd be cool if someone could make a fancy animated logo for Map Night that i could add in the end. (Like we have the fancy animated "sc2mapster" logo on some vids)

Oh I wasn't expecting feedback :) Well you'll probably find games go alot faster with AI as they're very efficient at taking rooms etc. If you play with a full house of 8 players the game tends to be more fun and last longer.
Hopefully this Friday, maybe we can get a full 8 player game going, see how everyone finds it :p
I'll try to get my other Card Shuffle ready as well, that should be pretty insane lol!
