Apparently, we're not only getting new tilesets, but Blizzard altered radically the old ones, as well. You'll find the most relevant changes being the Castanar and Mar Sara tilesets.
Also, new locations are announced, like inside the Void (Apparently a space asteroid), Endion and Ulnar (Which was what they named the Xel'Naga Ship from WoL, but it's now apparently a Xel'Naga city).
First of all, those new tilesets (and the updated ones) look amazing. They remind me alot more of the look that Starcraft 1 had. So thats great. Much better resolution, aswell. The terrain textures in Starcraft 2 were always so ugly because of these weird shading effects Blizzard put on it. Now they seemed to have resolved that.
And before you all get your pitchforks out: Your maps that use the unupdated tilesets PROBABLY will not change. Instead, they will simply be listed as "outdated" tilesets that can still be used and wont be replaced. It was the same for Hearth of the Swarm, too. Hopefully. Otherwise, Blizzard fucked up. They shouldnt just force changes upon custom maps.
While I'm not one to whine on 'old vs new', I wonder if Blizzard would let us use both, if we were interested. New ones joining with old ones, vice-versa, to create more varied terraining, y'know?
/edit The only thing I can say something about is the Ulnar tileset. Sounds a lot like Alien Korhal to me, honestly. The rest, are impeccable and, as I stated repeatedly, the core reason of why I bought LotV in the first place.
Can't wait to use the Shakuras tileset for my campaign. The remaking of Ulnar into a Xel'Naga city seems interesting. Perhaps they updated it for a mission in the campaign...
True, but still we oughta master how to divide between zones effectively and stuff, because there's still the border issues with the texture sets, to not mention each 'zone' is 8x8, and that's considerably big, favouring more horizontal/vertical zones than diagonal.

Absolutely beautiful. Looks like a few of the new textures use alpha, like the cobblestone in Heroes of the Storm.

I don't think the old ones are going away. The new ones are just being added. Will likely show up in editor was AiurDirtX2, etc

Endion and Bel´Shir just look absolutely beautifull....

I like the Void most.
Endion is my fav. I already imagine beautiful beaches to add up with that tileset.
Anyway all of them like x10 better than old ones. Great to see how well LotV shaping out.
This is why i like sc2 editing instead of Unity. Did you hear me Zolden?!
Omg... i've got so many ideas in mind for when the new content unlocks... and holy shit I love Endion, The Void and Ulnar texturesets.
I am already sharpening my teeth for this tiles sets and with 16 textures the skybox will be the limit! :-) :-)

If you add X texture in both tilesets, you can paint between and through the tilesets with that texture perfectly fine. You're welcome. :D
