you argued for something that is good (like star trek good not "utopian good" because your reasoning is flawed, sorry)
everyone on earth is not of your culture, and that is a swell thing isn't it?
other countries are defined by other parameters...
these parameters are intertwined with their languages (and i might add again they are "beautiful" in their differences and analogies)
to understand a foreigner you must live a bit of his history... it is fortunately ingrained in his language
if you meet a foreigner and he speaks your lingo.. (again no one's offended or offending anyone) .. then you are at a disadvantage.. he knows of your culture, ways... and sadly you (not you, the unknown you) are at a disadvantage...
on topic: many french mapmakers or moders are (YES) a bit against learning english (or other languages) .. but that is not to say that they are missing out.. (they are, specially mapster hou hou for mapster) .. it is the norm.. so i applaud the op for posting his op (lol) .. cause acknowledging our (french) shortcomings (any shcmg) is good.. he feels it will benefit.. i would gladly translate any part you guys are interested in (with his help mind you)... it is the ay of the world again and agin : vive a differenc (long live the differences between us mere humans.. it is what makes us what we are ;) )
yup, i agree with you. but just like someone born into a poor family is inherently poor and someone born into a rich family is inherently rich, your culture and nationality is just simply something bestowed upon you by others, it's not a bad thing to experience it and remember it and enjoy it etc, but if could remove the language from the equation, i'm saying, from a personal point of view. I would. plain and simple. =) language is relative to how you translate it. you can in theory say anything in any language in some way or another.
and remember language is largely a means of communication, the easier we make it to communicate, the better off we all are, is all i'm trying to say!
