I am utterly new to map creation in any form what-so-ever, and as much as I've browsed the tutorials I am still rather confused. But I have a rocking idea for a custom map, so I was wondering if this website has a mentor-ship program? :D Thank you for your time and helpful comments.
If you don't start working with the editor you'll end up like me. Thinking you understand simple things but really you don't because you never experimented with it to see what does what. That's what I've been doing the last couple weeks. Playing with triggers and data. Although I can't say I've created anything useful.
I've been playing around with the editor but I'm not making any noticeable progress. I don't even know what to click on to start editing any particular thing. It took me three hours just to figure out that I could move something one I placed it. And I still haven't figured out how to delete something. . . .
Yeah my point is that my understand is too basic to "tinker", or so I fear thus far.
No matter what you press, your computer will not self-destruct. click buttons, click keyboards, toy around, change stuff, test, see what changed, learn, profit.
you'll eventually learn new things, how things work, you'll get the hang of it, THEN you can start understanding tutorials.
I can tell you how to do stuff, no problem, but from my personal experience, tutorials and help from someone else never sticked to my brain, I either forgot or didn't understand, but when I learned something new myself, it not only felt great but I never forgot.
If you still wish to know how to do a particular basic thing just ask and ill tell.
