That's odd. I haven't encountered any missing textures or boxes besides the critter monkey so far.
Try it. I imported the whole effect assets in sc2 directly. only a few particule effect work. Maybe some of them use texture but i dont think it gonna fix the flat image. So i conclude not all particule effect of hots are supported into sc2 just a few.
I've imported the entire Heroes of the Storm into a mod. And working on separating them into 3. If you want that spell I can put it in a zip really quick before my D&D campaign starts.

i love the Dark Knight mercenaries. Also used them with some of my abilities just for testing purpose :) too lazy to make those gifs tho.
Unfortunately they weight like 3mb each, Also the death models + 1-2mb :(. I think it's imposible to use more than 40 models in project.

It sounds like you don't have all of the model's required textures (or at least not in the right location)

Is there a way to see how many files is required for 1 effect ?
UPDATE:
i found a way to see all the files requirement for 1xEffect.
1-Grab the effect .m3 file and drag and drop in the Heroesm3toSc2converter
2-check the files needed
3-export all of them with the correct path into your sc2 map.
(note: sometimes the file name is to long for the editor and it didnt save correctly)
