i've tried many times to get blizzard to change things, they dont listen and they dont care.
like fucking christ, the 2 minute timeout for publishing a map.
it's a fucking variable in the map editor that cuts off the connection after 120 seconds.
it's not in the battle.net server at all. it's ON THE CLIENT.
i've made multiple threads about it here and on battle.net forums.
i've tried kicking up a storm. but you know what? no-one reads the custom map forums.
it's the most basic fucking problem i've ever experienced in my life
and yet im forced to use a fucking 3rd party speed hack to get around it.
just like people are resorting to 3rd party software to either
a) have custom ladder/matchmaking
b) some form of global ranking/stats
like i said in the other thread. blizzard allocated fuck all to the sc2 dev team, they are a tiny group who are right now making hots and shitty melee maps for their ladder.
then they are going to be working on legacy of the void.
then maybe the custom map system and battle.net in general will get a decent makeover... oh wait. no they are just going to pull the sc2 team to work on the next wow expansion.
i've struggled, for a very long long time trying to justify the last year i've spent with the map editor open.
gets harder every day.
I'm hoping for someone to create a 3rd party software that is pretty much a new popularity system that doesn't lag, filters out empty lobbies and it is sorted by how long the host is waiting in lobby. It would be the most successful 3rd party software and you can bet everyone in this community would be using it.
edit: It will be cool to have this software working on background with your Starcraft closed. So, you get PMed every time a bookmarked map is hosted.
I did. I was on the first page of the popularity system for several weeks. Guess what, the system sucks.
This entire setup is fucking stupid compared to WC3. All they had to do was take that system and lump lobbies of the same map together and it would have been golden.
The WC3 modding community was so much more vibrant and enjoyable. No offense to you guys here, as this is a fault of the editor, popularity system, and Blizzard.
Another victim :(
And what Vexal mentioned is true: you're forced to go nuts 24/7 and as soon as you can't keep pushing updates the map falls and then it's a waste of time to keep trying. Popularity bottleneck causes this.
Well, let's just hang on. Change will happen naturally by player frustration and outcry (the masses).
You bet I'd delete all my maps from B.net and publish them only on the emu.
What do you want to play? Nexus Wars on B.net or Nexus Hindrance Wars on the emu? 1v1+Obs by slime on B.net or iCJug on the emu?
3 months, and all the good map makers would be making maps only for the emu.
Then, Blizzard rushes to copy the emu pop. system, and we all come back. Mission Complete.
Personally I'm waiting in hibernation for HotS and hoping that something will change. Less activity from map makers might get Blizzard's attention, and if it doesn't, it means they don't give a crap and neither should you.
The saddest part is, blizzard doesn't even want you guys around. They're just slowly suffocating this community hoping no one notices. The leadership of this site has blizzard's dick so far up their ass it's embarrassing.
Edit: Taking out misdirected anger. There are talented people here and it pisses me off no one has raised enough fuss that the community has noticed how much blizzard has fucked us all over. They have deliberately stagnated the gaming community and no one has the balls to call them out on it. Post, cause a fuss, they deserve it. But as is, they're sitting on their easy 9 to 5 cuz you guys don't have the balls to make change for the greater good.
Oh look its this thread again.
You sound very mad, and Im sure you must have very good reason..
I would suggest you treat mapping/modding as a hobby. Instead of acting like a whiny impatient and ungrateful bitch on our forums.
Blizzard has upgraded/changed and improved many things since release. Could those changes have come faster?. Maybe.
There are things like the popularity system and time-out window etc that may never change. Can anything be done about it?, probably not.
Most of the concerns have already been raised. We can keep trying, but there is no guarantee of change occurring.
Should we have to deal with all/whatever limitations and annoyances?(Assuming it will never change for the better). No we dont have to, its purely choice.
I dont care about you. Your problems or your damn forsaken life. If you want change from Blizzard, Raise the issues on the B.net forums and on our consolidated threads here on Sc2mapster. Map with the notion that your map may never be played or heaven forbid...never be 1st on the front page.
These types of threads are not productive or beneficial in anyway.
There is only so much that can be done by the community, Sixen, and the moderators on this site. If you`re still unhappy, then hey not much we can do. Quit mapping and go play minecraft. Bye.

@RodrigoAlves:
im just hoping a reliable b.net emu comes out

A battle.net emulator is certainly a very good and innovative idea... Please stop with the fantasies.

Go find another hobby while waiting. I started playing around with Lego Digital Designer and I'm making castles :D
