I have felt really frustrated recently. One HUGE reason is because I can't join another server. In this case...today, I couldn't join up with a friend because we were on different servers. I, US, and my friend, EU, so I couldn't and can't join him. I find that this angers me. Also, my mom's friend plays SC2, but is on EU server, so I couldn't play with him. You know, this really sucks. I bet many of you may agree that Blizzard should add an option to join a different server while in the main menu windows.
Funny...NOT!!! I've seen an amazing game that does exactly what I want here. (That game is Guild Wars. Guild Wars Link Guild wars has that option to switch between multiple servers for EU, US, international, etc.) If Blizzard would allow that, then there would be no need for map makers to publish maps over multiple servers. UGH!!! Blizz needs to get their act together. The whole point of making the game is for us to enjoy it. How can I enjoy it, when it lacks what we NEED!!! :|
Heh. You want to know what angers me?. Threads like this;p
Blizzard is one of the best gaming companies. They produce excellent games and have always supported the community as *best they can*. Go to Electronic Arts or 90% of the other crappy companies out there, then come back to Blizzard and tell me how you feel. I assure you it`ll be a feeling of appreciation and contentment with Blizzard.
Not gonna go into discussing OP. This is an old topic really. I dont think they will implement it, and their motives would best suit their interests. Yes, think about it from their point of view. Its not always about whats best for the customer.
You aren`t entitled to anything really. So be grateful for what you have.
p.s Anyone know why the influx of Blizz flaming threads recently? o.0. Nope , neither do I -_-

I've played Blizzard games almost exclusively for the past 8 years. I've spent more money on Blizzard games than any other company combined. Among a very select few others, they are the only games I enjoy.
With that said, regional lockout is bullshit and there's no excuse for it.
I just wanted to speak out and provide information that may be a key way to make many customers much more satisfied...maybe I'll do that on their forums when I don't feel so sleepy. There's other problems out there, I just can't think of them when I'm so tired.
there are a few excuses the blizzard mentioned when they first announced battle.net 2.0
1 was to reduce latency between players, if all players in a map are all from a single country, lag is very minimal.
but if players from all over the world could all connect to the US bnet server, there will almost always be someone from another country in your map with you creating lag... which isnt fun for anyone
i live in australia, we now have access to play on either NA or SEA bnet servers. i have noticed a HUGE increase in Lag when playing on NA servers compared to the SEA ones.
2 is to keep the bnet servers well populated. If all the players in a single country can only play on 1 bnet server, then that server will have alot of ppl.
if players from a region can change to play of different servers, then 1 popular server will have LOTS of players on it, and other bnet servers will be underutilised.
underutilisation is a pretty big problem for networks, and if alot of the players migrate from 1 server A to another server B, blizzard may shutdown server A because there is no financial gain in providing it.
as an example, Here in australia we originally only had access to the SEA bnet server; lots of aussies complained and we now get to choose between the SEA bnet and NA bnet servers.
now most Aussie player play on NA, and SEA is like a ghost town =( (well not completly like a ghost town, there are a few stragglers xD).
which sucks..
one solution i'd really like to see, is for blizzard to keep the region servers they have atm (because it works to keep lag down), BUT make map publishing GLOBAL.
so if i live in Australia, and publish my map to Bnet, i want people in the US/Korea/China/NZ/etc. to be able to play it too.
i feel sad that there are soo many cool and creative maps published on EU and NA, and i read about them on SC2Mapster, but i cant play them because they wernt published on SEA =(.

You know what angers me? People who go into threads and then talk about shit completely unrelated to the thread. If you don't want to discuss the topic, then GTFO of the thread. I'm not flaming you harder because contrary to your own words, you did actually discuss the OP.
No one said that we are entitled to such and such feature. But the idea that we ought to just be happy with what we have is stupid. It is perfectly valid to complain about stuff that Blizzard has fucked up. We can go play other games you know.
Why more Blizzard flame threads? Perhaps it is because the contest eliminated any remaining doubt that Blizzard has become a pure capitalist venture that is NOT run by gamers.

You introduced the two reasons perfectly, they are excuses. There is little to no merit for either of them. The fact of the matter is that WC3 did not have these problems. We know that amongst the three main servers (excluding Asia), there was no such problem of one being underutilized. We also know that the delay problem was, in 99% of circumstances, a negligible problem. I played DotA (micro intensive) with people from Europe, Australia etc. and none of us had any problem. If they had an appropriate selection of servers (WC3 had only 3, two were US) then it would be even less of a worry (and also most games don't require the micro of DotA). Why exactly would a bunch of South American people go to the European server if they had their own?

As I said before. If they feel its a good move for the company and the game. Then so be it. I would have probably done the same.
I was personally extremely disappointed in the single player. Do I whine and complain like some of you here?. Nope, because it wont change anything.
This topic has also been discussed to death in the past. Gimpexe mentioned a few of the reasons. Perhaps, just perhaps its not because they are "greedy" or trying to screw us over for no reason?. Deal with it, and watch your tone with me.
@Yukaboy
Its ok..I can tell you genuinely were not tying to spam or bring up this topic. But yeah, its a bit old and pointless.
For the record. Mapster is a place to discuss maps/ideas/projects, Work together, help each other, etc. Im disliking the trend that some people take in wanting to create whine/flame threads that we all know are pointless. Thats not what this community is about.

Unfortunatly they wont allow this because it would make it harder for sexual predators to find and rape you.

I don't usually complain about Blizz. Sry if you feel that way. I am just pointing out something that Blizz missed. :(
Not a single game is better than sc2, but it could use some adjustments.
i have seen amazing games too which allowed to switch servers. back in those days they were called starcraft and warcraft
