Well a couple questions, is 'General Chat' the place I should post questions for help, in relation to Starcraft 2 Editor?
Second Question, I am currently making a map in which I want to replicate a dungeon world creation that is randomly generated upon entering for each level.
The map inspiration is Lost Labyrinth (Note: My inspiration is the older one, I like it better. Mostly because the newest edition is buggy as hell on Windows)
Main Hurdle(Help me?):
Now I am already coming to a hurdle that I can't figure out.
Raising/Lowering Cliffs through triggers.
There is no immediately clear trigger in the map editor to choose from.
Background info on me:
I used to make Warcraft 3 maps for fun. I mostly used the in built triggers and never really got around to writing my own code out in jass.
I am in a similar position for Starcraft 2 maps.
@arunoaj:
General Chat is just about general stuff. If you want feedback or something about your map, there are other places in the forum for that. If you need specific help, there are forums for that also :P Good idea though! I want to know how to do a random map generation thing also.
Thanks, I had a better look around, and I think I might post again in 'Miscellaneous Development' area. But I'm going to lurk some more before I do
I was able to do the random map generation for almost everything except cliff height modification from triggers. I'm sure there is a way. I might have to learn some code thou.
Wish me luck :P
Welcome to Mapster! :D
Short run-down:
General: Anything StarCraft related
Off-Topic: Anything
Development Forums: Where you ask for help about SC2 maps :)
Enjoy your stay!
Slight modification xD. Asking for help on maths homework is not encouraged in the dev forums :P.
Also, you can't modify terrain. Best way to do the randomisation is create a cube actor. And then create a unit with that cube actor. Then in triggers, write a complex algorithm to create a randomised level (placing actors). Then, attach a region to your unit (circular), and whenever a cube actor enters the area, swap it with the unit. When it leaves, swap it with the actor again. Not as much lag due to not many unit's, but still able to edit the walls (Eg, use an ability to destroy a wall etc). Complex, but the best way I think.
RodrigoAlves is right; Blizzard has confirmed that cliff heights are not modifiable through triggers in the editor. There's no planned support for it. I can't find the exact quote right now but the blue post went along the lines of "it would require significant changes [to the engine], so we aren't going to implement it unless there's a strong need for it".

I don't think you can do a cliff height modification from triggers in galaxy editor.
