Hey I don't really know what "License" I should use for my maps. I want to share everything with people so that if they want to modify map anyway they want to I allow it. I'm using "Public Domain" license at the moment is it best choise for me and other who want to share their work 100%?
If you want to give those who download the maps the rights to do whatever they want, then yes. Public domain would be the way to go.
Then you have GPL,which requires me to share any changes I do to your work if released (you might want to look at GPL3 for that as I'm not sure if GPL2 would apply).
I am unsure for the other ones such as BSD, Academic, Apache etc. Someone else hopefully have info on them.
I am pretty sure unles you lock your map, you can’t put any copyright on it. ... Blizzard has already copyrighted your material.. you don’t own your map.
I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure there is nothing you can do besides locking your map.
Argument makes sense, but then there's the fact that I somehow doubt Sixen and Vjeux would go as far as to bother with implementing the whole copyright system for uploads if they didn't have a clue wtf it was actually for.
Does copyright matter? In the end, Blizzard owns it and so does everyone else in the community. You can't lock the map expecting your work to be protected.
Blizzard has already stated that they have rights to just about everything produced with the map editor seeing as how it can really only be played over bnet, with the exception of trading the editor files "unlocked" to other people to open in the editor.
What do the rights matter anyways. You think blizzard gives a damn if you make a sweet map, some asshole unlocks it changes some stuff and republishes it?

The system was actually implemented for WoW Addons. And to be honest I have really no clue what license is for what. I usually mark all what I'm doing in Public Domain :)
