So as you may (or may not) know, I really don't play sc2 melee. But we've been talking about bringing the mapmaking and melee communities together for quite some time. So here's my question to any of you that play melee. What kind of sc2 map would you find most helpful or most enjoyable? I'm talking about something that either help you improve your game (build order testers, practice games, etc...) or something that you would like to have added on to melee (something like icJug or peepmode, where there are extra features).

I like different rule sets, ie, phantom mode, something that adds drama. True practice I don't care about cause I don't play league, I want to have fun.
any mod’s life or death is decided by players’ enthusiasm for it.. so novelty is often met with hostility.. furthermore any more than one game to “get it” and you lose more than 80% of your potential players… (very sad indeed).
More surprising, in melee, players are even more conservative than nixxon ever was… any feature be it gameplay or graphic,
gets instant: this is fu..ed up, so imba for “x”, so dumb …
all this while they haven’t tried it.. don’t want to try it..while all the while calling out for something other than blizz’s ladder map pool (yeuch, by that i mean photocopies of the same map, with or without destructible units to “vary”).
i tried for 6 months on tl (melee hometown lol) and .. well .. let’s just say that i got ridiculed or ignored…
a map HAS to have:
:) a main large enough to house 80% of all buildings… (lol about zerg by the way)
:) this main cannot be in a lower height than it’s surroundings
:) an easy 2nd.. or zerg is up (lol up = youpie= hippie or jew, no offense intended, just funny aint it?)
:) a third that is away from your opponent
(oups forgot to mention melee = 1v1, lololololol)
:) there has to be a one force field large ramp on the main
:) wow! the second can be open … but only up to 4/5 ff max…
:) the mains can mostly not have air harass all around them… what for? (depressed cynicism from my part, yes i admit)
:) textures or terrain can NEVEREVER be made to act as more than cliff or no cliff / edge or center / main or attack pathway… (why would you make it harder on players you crazy mofo?)
:) any distortion (that would permit hiding units for example) is forbidden
:) after 1 ramp (into the “natural”) a minimum of 2/3 pathways to the opponent is required.. one direct.. one longer leading to a middle “unsafe/never held” base(s)
:) and bla bla fucking bla
sorry..
....
i knew that kids would be even more reactionary (most of them) then there were 20 years ago..
but i thought i’d find mapmakers interested, and dare i say it.. players interested in playing maps they couldn’t learn by heart and needed “universal builds” to even try to master..
i thought that the maps made the game infinite and awesome to play…
i was wrong.. melee is only meant to practice for ladder.. and blizz’s ladder map pool is redundantly poor…
ps: want to know who’s to blame for the whole map pool deal?... sshhhh come here and i’ll tell ya…
(i quote) “ tournaments will have to introduce new maps to the community” .. [David Kim sighs] ..“we will not” ...
ergo: tournament heads with no balls are to blame for the situation look up nasl doing it at last (cause they f.. up, have their back against the wall and need to rally players/viewers/anyone :) ), look up mlg taking orders from korea (lololololol) and poorly at that.. finally, ignore tl, who will be in the back of the bus (charming set up for the melee premiere site, ain’t it?).
ps2: (lol at the acronym, i don’t own one) sorry for the rant… just ignore the shit bat crazy old fart… he won’t mind, he s had ample time to adjust.. and he s sooooo patient you wouldn’t believe, he’ll be on till LoV (lololol at acronym)
ps3: ooooo forgot… all hail motmt on tl that’s if you think melee maps are worth a damn, while their maps are not my particular cup of tea, they are so much better than blizz’s that tl won’t be able to forgive themselves for ignoring them (dare i say it, ridiculing them) for so long.. :) i had to finish on a lighter note dont’cha think :^p

I recently started playing Micro Maps. I guess it would be cool to have these types of maps where you can adjust difficulty level to your own skill.
