I'm trying to implement a dialog based skill tree and I need to make the dialogs teach skills!
I was wondering if there is a good tutorial about skill trees and how they can teach and level up skills. I've seen some skill tree maps and tutorials but none really spell out how to interact with the unit itself, its just the dialog menus and coding.
Just check which skill they learned in the custom dialog and then apply a custom upgrade to the player. Have the custom ability depend on the custom upgrade.
From my understanding if you intend for the abilities to be used from the standard command card the abilities have to be linked to the unit in the data editor.
If you add an ability to the unit durring run time you have no way to add the command buttons.
And you cant add the command buttons at run time because, from what ive heard is that the command card data is write protected at run time.
