I think a background and maybe fog through these crystals could make it nice =)
Do you know the rule of the 1/3 when making any art? If you trace a line at every 1/3 of your space from top and bottom and sides, at every intersections is a hot point... (i don't know how to say)
Anyway, all this to say that our eyes are not able to stop on something and focus, they are just looking around and try to find what / where is the subject. Your point of view makes your picture boring. I don't mean your map is boring, your picture is. In another point of view, it could be 'probably' better.
See how I placed the lines on your picture and see why I say it looks boring, there is no movement, it is static and the same thing on both side. Our eyes can't stop on somthing. Your picture is divided in 4x4 and not 3x3 =P
In comparison, I did the same on my car which looks more interesting I think. You can see how I divided the space and where are the intersections. Our eyes automaticly go to the bottom right intersection because of the field of view and the way it is placed. Where I wanted the people look is the front of the car, so, the front of the car is on a intersection.
SheogorathSC did the 1/3 but differently. It can be more interesting, but can make it worser also. It always depends what you want to do. His blue world works pretty good for me. It is still possible to place the rule of 1/3 normally and see that it still works.
As a last example, this was a bit more hard to place the lines for madlibrarian. His first picture is not exacly with the best angle. His second one thought is better.
Note 1: Even if ScrinKing could have made this WTE in just a min and low effort, it doesn't matter since this information could be usefull to anyone. If you understand the 1/3 effect, you can do some nice printscreen ;)
Note 2: the lines are only there to give an idea. This is made with Paint (our best friend like Google), so precision is not there.
I threw up 20% of what I wanted in ten seconds flat (props to whoever gets the reference)
@ScrinKing: Go
I'm instantly thinking The Dig, the old Lucas Arts game. Though I might be way off.
xD I'm not referencing ANYTHING in the WTE, I'm referencing something from this: "... 20% ... ten seconds flat"
@ScrinKing: Go

Ex of the rule of 1/3:
