I'm making pretty simple, escape style map (alike. Ice Escape, Jungle Escape etc. from Wc3, but totally from scratch in GE) and I've met some problems.
1. Got no idea how to make a player's unit (drone) die when he colides with for example, Infestor walking around the Maze. I used to do this by Permanent Immolation in wc3 with short range and 0.1 second between "burns" each deally lethal damage. Here I got no idea even how to start.
Allready made an ability for Colossus to allow it to shot at ground with it's beam and do it as fast as 0.1 (I won't need faster one) second break between shots so etc. and it's progressing well. Also made other obstacles. I'll reveal map when It'll be in Alpha version.
EDIT: I would prefer a short tutorial rather than an ready done ability. I'm willing to learn.
Use triggers. Have you worked with them before? If not, you'll want to follow some tutorials. They're really quite easily and allow you quite literally to just set what you want; "when unit X moves into Y range of unit Z, unit X dies".
I wanted to evade using triggers because I wanted to reduce the memory usage. That's why I asked.
I thought, that If I make it somehow, use an ability, I won't need another trigger for this stuff. Trigger's are easy as hell... records, action/condition/event definitions and all that stuff is piece of cake for me to use. Just the Data Editor is a lil' harder one but still, I've figured many usefull things in few last days.
Still, not enough usefull things, Methinks me wants more.

here is an aura tutorial. you can still use them. instead of a apply behavior effect just use a damage effect
