hey, working on a project and im trying to figure out which function will allow me to fetch a players name, and display it as a dialog item/store it in variable.
One thing to keep in mind, you can use a player's name, but not check what it is.
If that's true, then won't making passwords and encrypted data banks be practically impossible since they cannot be specific to a user's name?
To clarify; Fred.epic has a level 28 zergling in SCoRPG. Clarice.hannibal could copy Fred's data bank file, paste it into whichever directory is relevant, and then have her own level 28 zergling since the encrypted bank file cannot be name specific?

Oh shit, I didn't think of that yet, but it's true. There seems to be no way to get the player's name as String and text doesn't have a ToString conversion D:
The only idea for a workaround I have right now is to promt the player to enter their name as a chat message and compare it with the play name text. If it doesn't match then you promt the player again until he inserts the right name..

Is this possible?
Yep, however keep in mind that player names in SC2 are of variable type Text, not String.
Dialog - Set (Last created dialog item) text to (Name of player 1) for (All players)
That'd change the text of (Last created dialog item) to the name of player 1.

You can compare two "text" variables just like a string. :P
The option just might not be there in GUI.
