I am working on a small map to learn the editor and I just cannot figure out how to disable fog of war. I want the entire map visible at all times. I tried messing with Grey Mask in the data browser, I tried setting the whole map as explored, creating a revealer for each player for the whole map, creating a trigger to reveal the whole map when units are inside (desperate)...
It must be something really simple since I cant find anything about it on here and there are so many maps that do it. So I am prepared for a really simple slap my forehead resolution.
Once that is taken care of, I am also wondering, would it be possible to create a small area that is always dark for a certain player? So that even if he explores it, it stays dark?
How does nobody see this. . . On the tab in the top left corner look for Maps. Go to Map Options. There should be an option for Fog Of War: Set it to No Mask.
When I go to Map->Map Options, Unexplored Areas only lists Grey Mask, Black Mask, and Black Mask (Reduced Radius). Is this the setting you are referring to?
Is there some other setting that enabled 'no mask' in that list?
I'm not sure why creating a revealer didn't work for you, but that's what I've always done when testing my maps. I think you only have to create one revealer per team as well as long as teammates have shared vision, but I haven't tested that.
Visibility - Create a visibility revealer for player 1 within (Entire map)
That's exactly what I use, it's working in my map right now.
I haven't experimented with blocking vision in an area no matter what, so I'm sorry to be no help there.
Also I think there used to be another option for the mask in the Map Options, maybe that was removed recently. That said, all that did was remove the fog of war. It didn't reveal units/structures etc. on the map at all times.

aha, that does work. When I tried revealers the first time I had them in a for all players loop that I guess I must have screwed up, thanks!
Found a new action that seems to work very well. Visibility - Disable Fog Of War visibility
Using that I do not need to create a revealer for every player. Which less objects is always better :)
