Been working with the editor for couple of weeks now, got past a lot of pitfalls on my own and with help from one or two tutorials, but this latest bug/problem I just encountered will set me back many days of work if I cant get some help.
The problem is My object groups, specifically the Unit groups I made no longer function with triggers. I can delete and then remake the object groups and triggers all day, but in game the triggers don't execute, for instance one group is made up of structures and I have a trigger to make them invulnerable, and some other groups are units which i send to attack points.
It is not a problem with the editor itself, because i can reload much older maps and the groups and triggers work fine. But on my latest maps I cannot get them to work.
I have tried a couple things, moving dependencies up and down, honestly I have not attempted with every dependency on top, but i obviously moved story down to bottom and back up to top once or twice.
If anyone has encountered a similar situation where Object Groups and Triggers No longer work together I would appreciate your help.
Also I just want to add, once I noticed the problem, I made the Triggers overly-simplified actions for troubleshooting purposes, which I am confident should work.
One is as simple as Pick each unit in unit group XYZ ; for each picked unit make invulnerable. I have been testing with triggers I know should work, and do work fine in my older maps.
Sorry I cannot give a method for reproducing the problem as it happened sometime in a 4 day period while I was working on my map and was not noticed right away.
Currently I am just messing with a map, not a combination of my own mod and a map.
I was just about to post about this. It seems there's a bug in the editor in regards to Object Groups. I'm betting it has something to do with changing the object groups around. I remember at one point they were acting kind of crazy, and then they just stopped working all together. I even made a brand new map with the same kind of triggers I'm trying to run in my new one, and they worked beautifully.
I honestly think Blizzard needs to not only fix this but they should also enhance the object group window. It's difficult to change the members of the group as well as to manipulate a single unit of the group. I would also like to see the Patrol paths work as well.
