I have made an ability based off of Mass Recall and have been having some difficulty figuring our the target values for the teleport.
I want the ability to search for units near the caster, then teleport them to the targeted location and apply a stun behaviour.
It all works except that instead of moving the units to the target location it simply teleports them to wherever they already are.
I was wondereing if anyone else knew what values I should set for:
Target - Placement Around - Value
Target - Target - Value
Unit - Unit - Value
Effect - Scource - Value
Your ability should create a "Create Persistent" effect. This persistent effect runs your chain of effects from here on out.
Ability Effect - Effect : Create Persistent A
Create Persistent A Effect - Effect - Initial : Search A
Search A Target - Impact Location + : (None):Caster Point Search - Areas + : Set this up however you like, BUT the Effect should be your Teleport effect.
Teleport A Target - Target + : (Create Persistent A):Target Point this is SUPER important! This tells the teleport effect to send the units to the Create Persistent's Target Point, AKA the Ability's first Effect.
Setup the rest of your Teleport effect however you like.
If you cannot get it to work, if you don't mind sending me the map I'll take a peak and set you up properly. :)
It does not have to be exactly created as above, and you should be able to squeeze in any number of effects(like the stun) into your spell.
Damn, I'm trying to make an ability very similar to this where the closest unit to the caster gets teleported along with the caster to the target location. Had high hopes when I saw BorgDragon's shiny, clear cut explanation but it didn't work for this guy.
try excluding the caster from the search effect, is the outer comparison of the search effect equal or equal and greater? you can also try another effect in the search to see if it does anything at all (or register transporter as event and fire a debug msg if transporter is applied)

i think i found it. on the set ability you have set it to 1 effect, which will always be the first one if not set on random. set min and max to 2 effects.
(the comparsion was for the search validator, i mixed that up)
What do I set to 1 effect? Where is it? What effect do I set it to?
Edit: I changed the min and max count of the search effect to 2 and now what appears to be happening is the caster teleports to target location, grabs the nearest unit at the destination, and teleports with it again. So the caster is teleporting twice and double distance and taking the closest unit to the middle of the distance to the end of the teleport. Not intended but big progress! lol
now you have to exclude the caster from the search effect because it will apply the transporter effect on him. did you test it with items? exclude hidden units from the search effect too (and missiles, dead units, explosives, cars, w/e).
you might need to reorder the effect that transporter happens before the teleport of the caster (or at the same time), or use even only one teleport effect (not excluding the caster) if you intend to teleport all units around.
i would use a persistant effect instead of the set effect. initaleffect is the search + teleport, endeffect is teleporting the caster, basically like borg did it 3 years ago.

Here's a basic idea of what you need to do.
Your ability should create a "Create Persistent" effect. This persistent effect runs your chain of effects from here on out.
Ability
Effect - Effect : Create Persistent A
Create Persistent A
Effect - Effect - Initial : Search A
Search A
Target - Impact Location + : (None):Caster Point
Search - Areas + : Set this up however you like, BUT the Effect should be your Teleport effect.

Still isn't working. I'm going to fiddle with it a bit. Also, is it possible to have an energy cost based on the target distance?

we cannot help if you do not tell us what you got already and where it fails.
The teleport works but only the caster gets teleported.
Ability Type: Effect - Target
Transporter (Set)
Teleport
Transporter (Search Area)
Transporter

I tried these suggestions without any luck. I'm not sure what field is responsible for outer comparison in the search effect.

OOOOOMMMG its working!! Thank you so much!
I ordered the set so that the search area occurs first and excluded the caster from the search effect. It seems to be working PERFECTLY now!
