I want to create a weapon, that instead of applying a damage effect, launches a search effect that searches 90deg in front of the caster, dealing damage to everyone on the cone.
What I did was to create a weapon, based off the Zergling attack, and changed the effect to a search effect, which would apply a damage effect. But for some reason the search effect wont function proberly all the time. It's like it's not always 90 degrees. but it is depending on the rotation, it just doesnt seem like it's the 90 deg in front of the caster.
I might do this, but I want the attacker to be able to attack from 3 range away, not melee. So this wont work, as the Ultralisk deals damage from the target unit.
EDIT: I made it work. I dublicated the Hellion Tank weapon. It works by applying a damage effect to the target, and after that, applying a search effect.

I never tried to do this, and I'm far from being expert in data.
But check how Ultralisk weapon is done. Maybe it would be better choice.

You problem could be the caster/target locations. Try changing caster from unit/point to unit and see what happens.

You know, you could just create a splash radius on the attack, and then set the angle to 90 degrees.
It would be far simpler than what you are doing.

I want to also apply a behavior to the target, so this wont work.
Try to set the Impact Location to Target Unit/Point and check the Center At Launch flag.

You can add a behavior two ways by doing this.
1. Through data - Apply the behavior through an event to damaging unit (through damage)
2. Through triggers - eg:
Unit Does Damage
Damaging unit is type of [you're unit]
Apply behavior to attacked unit
(Roughly something like that. )

Yeah, I know I could do it with triggers, but I prefer to use data for it. I got it working though, so no problems :)
can u explain how? or u just used triggers?
