Title pretty much says it all... I'd like the units in my map only to search in front of them for targets to attack, not to the sides or behind them. Mad props to anyone who helps me.
Note that the "attack" I'm talking about is just the regular Attack command
Abilities inherit validators from the effect they "cast". If you give the effect triggered by the attack a validator, the attack will only be used on targets who meet the criteria specified.
Would you be able to provide some more details about what exactly you're trying to do, kenx?
Trying to create a PVP arena attack ability with no target, just swipes everything in front of him in an arc, that I will give to a melee unit to use as his attack. When he uses it, it plays his melee attack animation, and damages every unit in front of him in an arc like I said before, It's an imitation of Meph's Smashcraft's [A] hotkey attack.
Oh, that's like a million times easier than what the OP is asking for. Just go into the "Area+" field of the effect you want to use when the attack occurs, and set the Area to be the frontal range (ex: 1), then set the angle to be the width (in degrees) of the arc in front of the caster (ex: 90).
I am currently trying to make it where my TPS character only auto attacks in front on himself and doesn't turn much. I'm using WASD controls and the auto turn that comes with the auto attack is messing up the users control of the unit.

Hmm...I think you can make a validator to check the angle of the target or something and stick it into the attack ability.

There is no Validator Field on the Attack Ability :( I'm sure there is some way around this, but this kind of stuff is not my strong side
