So I am completely new at editing anything. I've played around with this editor for a while now though (about 3 days straight) and have been able to do a ton of things. There seems to be absolutely NO help online about requirements though!
MY CURRENT SETUP
-scv build ability-supply depot- has requirement of learning pottery.
-command center has button linked to ability research pottery linked to the upgrade research pottery.
-the research pottery upgrade takes away the scv build supply depot ability requirement.
-research pottery has mac upgrade level of 1.
BUT the button on the command center (research pottery) stays after researching and my scv can build a supply depot from the start anyways EVEN THOUGH it initially has the requirement on his ability. PLEASE HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE.
@nickthegreat2468: Go Explain how these requirements are set. You just got lucky I think I'm the only one around that says "I'm a requirement expert". Not that its such a great thing to be lol, but maybe that's why you can't find tutorials for it.
Well, the requirement is:
Learn Pottery
Use-
Show-
Not-
Count upgrade research pottery queued or better
The upgrade research pottery is supposed to remove the requirement of learning pottery from the scv build supply depot ability. But the scv can build the supply depots from the start anyways.. :(
@nickthegreat2468: Go Where is that requirement used? That's the one you should include in your research ability. For your Supply Depot you need a different requirement.
Okay I created two separate requirements and it works! Thank you! But now I am also including a second research in my command center research ability. Something REALLY weird happens here. Even though both research techs are designed exactly the same, when i click research bronze working, the button does not go away (even though i have it the same as pottery) and now when i click pottery, the button for bronze working goes away!!
@nickthegreat2468: Go You can't use the same requirement fo both upgrades, you have to create a new one for bronze, just like the one you created for pottery, you can simply duplicate your pottery requirement and where it says pottery queued or better, change to bronze queued or better.
I did that! I meant they were based exactly the same.. It's so hard to explain on a forum lol This is my first time posting in any forum too by the way. Basically I have the barracks ability to upgrade to an axeman camp. The requirement to do this is "have researched bronze working" which is use -> count upgrade research bronze working completed. That works fine as in I initially can't upgrade it and can once I have researched bronze working. Then there is the second requirement learn bronze working, which is show -> not -> count upgrade bronze working queued or better & constant 0. I am assuming this is where my problem is coming from. Does that look right? It is exactly like this for pottery, which now works perfectly so I am confused.
@nickthegreat2468: Go You dont need to add the constant 0. Also check again your research ability, cause I'm pretty sure you selected pottery requirements for both your pottery and bronze upgrades. If not, review all your steps to find what you did wrong. If you find it difficult to explain you can always attach a screenshot to your posts so people can see it.
I finally figured out what I was doing wrong! You were correct; I forgot to change show -> not - > count upgrade over to bronze working so when i clicked pottery, both went away. I will no doubt run into more problems later and post again here but thank you for everything thus far!
