I am trying to create a lightning storm with lightning bolts dropping from the sky. I took the archon unit, changed its actor model to 'Archon Attack Beam' and applied an Site Operation (Explicit Rotation) to the archon model (which I set to the archon attack beam). I know this much is correct because when I added my site ops to the beam actor, nothing happens.
I do not know which settings I need to change to get the beam to rotate so it looks like its standing up (instead of horizontal, like what you normally see when an archon attacks).
I've changed the Actor: Forward X,Y,Z values as well as the Actor: Up X,Y,Z values and I have Actor: Is Local set to Enabled. It seems no matter what I use for the x,y,z values the beam simple wont stand up. When I place the beam in the editor and try to rotate it, it goes crazy and rotates itself in random directions for about 5 seconds then stops.
For my end result, I'd just like to spawn the lightning beam on a unit, apply behaviors and damage via triggers.

Beams need to be attached between two models. Just have an invisible Unit actor and use a Beam (Simple) actor to launch from your Unit actor to an vertically offset Model actor that is also invisible.
