Trying to make an Ability that I cast at Target unit, and that unit receives damage equal to the amount of damage that units take in an area around it.
I got this much figured out...
I know I would cast buff on a unit, that would search for enemies in an area around it, applying a something I am assuming.
you can make the unit do an effect on taking damage with a behavior.... just make him do an effect that targets the "attacker" use the weapon dmg effect that the unit uses.... not sure if that will give you the results the way you want them

Close... What im trying to do is make an ability when cast on enemy unit. Makes that Unit receive that same amount of damage, that all units in an area around him take.
a thorns ability would be a start, or if I could add a custom vital to the game, I could defiantly do it.

If there is a way to do the first part, and I hope there is, As being able to redirect damage would be very useful to many persons, I would note that if two units have this effect on it and are in range of each other, and any unit takes damage near them, they would both instantly die due to a feedback loop.
I have figured out that this is NOT do-able with effects alone, it looks like I have to play with map triggers too, im getting close I can feel it :P
looks like I need to store the caster unit, and the targeted unit of the spell. It also looks like I need a global trigger check for each time a unit takes damage and then redirect the damage through a trigger. using abilities to tie in the gaps, and create the animations

all you really have to do if you wanna use triggers is
event
Unit takes damage from any effect
conditions
Damaged unit has behavior
actions
create effect from damaged unit to Damaging unit
may not really be that simple but it still requires the dmg return behavior to be on the unit....
if you could give us a more "artistic definition" on what your trying to do here that may help
is it spose to be like a "mirror" effect where the spell is reflected?
Is it just spose to act as a thorns effect.....
the problem is ..... for abilities and effects you need to have alot of things preset in data... now triggers may get the job done... but will require aditional work for animations....
The ability name is Repercussion inspired from the below magic card
basically, the AOE nuker of the group will put this on a boss, or large creature, then continue doing aoe damage around that large creature, thusly having all damage copied
