currently I have a problem with my doodads, I want to flip them around. I've created a siteoperation for that and added it to the doodadactor... well, nothing happens. With units it works fine, but I don't want to make all the doodads to units. Has sombody experience with that or an idea how to get it to work without reimporting the doodad from 3dsmax?
Samplemap as Attachment.
After all I just want to turn doodads, but most important this one doodad. Additionally it would be nice if I could create new doodads were I apply SOps to use 90° and 180° pitched versions of the original ones, this would create a much larger variety of useable details for malu05's and my map.
And thanks in advance, really nice to hear that somebody knows how to do this :)
I'm looking for way to do this too. To be more precise, I'd like to flip some of the cliff doodads, so that their side that normally touches the cliff will touch the ground instead. The SOpFlip thing from Prozaic's tutorial works on units, but not on doodads.

Units have the simple problem, that you can't adjust height on a per doodad basis. This makes them somewhat unpreferable for decorating in an unusual setting.
I've been having an issue with my editor so I can't use it or make test maps. So for now I can only answer part of the question given that I don't have the fields I need to reference in front of me.
If you want to change a doodads height, facing, location, size on the fly, you can do this by double clicking the doodad and modifying any of the fields in there.
But for using any old Site Operation, that's a little more complicated. When I get my editor working I'll come back with a test map to show yeh.
Sorry to invoke the dark arts of thread necromancy, but I was hoping that Muse, everyone's favorite fractal duck, or someone else knows the secrets of site operations on doodads. The number of doodads I'm having to convert to units is stacking up, and the inability to set height on a one-off basis kinda sucks. Apparently the answer lies in the Aliases of the Site Operation itself? Please help!
I gave this another try and the Set Rotation method does work... but only when I send it as an actor message in the trigger editor :/ I have no idea what the numbers in the data editor field mean (picture attached in post above), they change instantly when I edit them...
Including an example map with the triggers, hopefully someone can translate that into data editor.

bump, because I really need to know that and haven't found any solution yet.
That is a good question.
Many people have asked the question but noone have really clarified how its done. So please post if you know.
I need some clarification:
Are you wanting to apply SOps in general? Or simply turn your doodad?
If you can give specific examples then I'll be more likely to answer yeh question :)

Edit: Some examples:

Make units then.

That would cause more problems than it would solve. I'd rather just shamelessly bump this topic and hope for an answer :P
bump incoming!
When do you expect the arrival of that bump?
Depends on when somebody likes to anwser this question :)
I need to bump this thread.
Looking for help on turning an object vertically :D.
Desperate bump...

i have to know this
Try the Set Rotation actor event. Target ::Sender and the angle in the form of a vector eg 1,1,0.

Wow, this still hasn't been solved? :S
Doesn't work, or I'm doing it wrong.
Hello, 117 days later :D
