I am trying to duplicate the web, net, and snare abilities from WarCraft 3. I'm mainly trying to make it so that an air unit is dragged to the ground and is able to be attacked as a ground unit along with having its movement speed disabled. I know how to do the movement speed just fine but I am stumped on the other two, especially on how to make the webbed unit fall to the ground. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You should take a look at the Phoenix's Graviton Beam ability, since it does just that, except it turns ground units to air units. It's a place to start, though.
Great idea nashadun, you might also want to look at the corruptor's fungal growth ability and just reduce its range, max count, and make it affect target unit rather than target point.
-ensnare could probably be a launch missile effect, with the target impact as apply behaviour. then make a behaviour that surpress's movement completely. Really ez to do
-for web , This one is a little more tricky. Use a launch missile effect first. For the impact of the missle use a Set effect . This set effect should need to be "apply behaviour" and "modify unit" . The applied behaviour will just be one that disables movement . and the modify unit will bring the unit down to the ground. If you want a realistic "from air to ground transition" .. use a persistent to smoothen it out. Apply actors for eye candy.
Ok, I think I've got the ability set, but the problem is, it wont cast from a building, it works sort-of from a unit (it has no duration) but from a structure, it won't even cast. Anyone have any insight on this issue. Even the normal graviton beam (not edited) wont cast from the building. (I'm using graviton beam as a base for it by the way).
