Is it possible to make a map where the player can choose which location to start at? Lets say it is a 'co-op vs AI' with 4 human allied players at the center (eg.4 edges of a cross), we have no option to choose our placement and of-course neither the computer's placement. Then why is it called 'Custom,co-op vs ai'?
The only thing I can do is to have 'random start location' for the centered 4's and fixed/settled up for the Ai-opponents and then the 4 of us can have fun by loading the map until everyone is at his favorite location... nice work...
Why there are not choose-able start locations at the lobby.
I understand it for melee, there need to be balance by randomness
for ums (custom-custom?) because the map would be fixed
but with the potentials of this editor in terrain one can make beautiful maps with beautiful bases for each one of the player positions.
Giving them the option to choose every time another one to play/try should be essential.
I'm making a map with 4 allied players (start-locations in square shape) close to each-other having their minerals side by side at the center. Even when I set ownership of minerals to be player's # and not neutral, workers still gather from the closest neighbor. They even climb cliffs or pass around them. I think we should be able to have such an option to make neighboring bases without ruining the balance of resources like that.

Greatly inspired and executed
Excellent , would you give us any info? Especially the sky, clouds...slow motion, mutalisk's size.
Once again awesome
That was beautifully structured, thank you very much. We -noobs- need more explanatory tutorials. Like you said we need to understand why we do it and not only the way it's done. It helps especially those people who's mother language is not English. Thanks again.

Avoiding opening a new topic my question is
how to place only one variation of a doodad constantly? For example dragging and placing one variation of a tree.
