I just can't figure it out... I'm guessing every tutorial out there is outdated? I cannot for the life of me find how to change the model. I've perfectly imported the model and texture then put them into (root) and... my only problem is finding out how to apply it to the unit...
Patch 1.5 did not change anything major as to how the game works. There are a lot of new additions and very minor changes here and there.
I can't make out anything on the second screenshot, but on the first I see you didn't even open the model tab to set up your imported model. You need to open the model tab by pressing the green plus and picking it out of the little menu that pops up, create a new model, set its model path to your imported model, then go to the ACTORS tab (Very important. Models don't do anything here, they are used by actors), find the actor of your unit and change it's "Art - Model" field to your newly created model.
The "Units" tab only control the technical aspects of your unit. What weapons it uses, what abilities it uses, what is on its command card, its stat, movement and collisions stats, costs and other things, but all those that arent simple numbers, texts/strings or image files link to another area of the editor which handles those parts (Like buttons, abilities and weapons)
Models don't have anything to do with units technically. Actors are their own thing that runs alongside the game to give us a visual representation of what's going on. They are not necessary for the game to work (there are probably some exceptions), so nothing links to them. The actors link to the other parts of the data editor instead of the other parts linking to them.
sigh* still having problems, do you know of any tutorials for this? All that i'm finding are an incredibly old version of the editor that I can't do because it uses another method that is now not usable such as
As for your instructions, the model is in the root and I don't know the exact path for it. How do i find out the path?

You have to click on the green plus that is next to the "Units" tab and open the "Models" tab.
There you can change/create your model data.
edit:
And as Almaity already said, nothing like this changed with 1.5. It is all the same, no tutorial is outdated. You are just in the wrong tab.
