Hey Guys,
I have a beam effect that hits a target and causes it to morph into a different unit. This worked for the most part until I hit a weapon cap of 64. So I can't use morph. I'm trying to use the trigger effect called "replace unit" but if I do that the beam disappear(not the same unit anymore). I need the beam to stay on him b/c its suppose morph back once the beam is ever broken(applies buff). Anyone know how I can do this? maybe replace isn't the right command. I don't know all the ins and outs of trigger editor.
I think you really need to use morph abilities for this. What's the limitation you encountered, weapon cap of 64? Each unit could have its morph ability to change to whatever it's supposed to when hit by the beam.
The problem is when you link units together with morph it considers it one unit. So there is no way to make the morph work.
You dont "link" units with morph.... you morph the unit that is morphing into another... there is no limitation on this..... damn near half the units in game can morph
You may need to use a different morph ability for each unit......
then on the effect that activates the morph you need a switch effect that tests the type of unit.... and does the appropriate morph
I believe the problem he is refering to has to do with weapons. The editor seems to have a hard coded cap with a unit tree linking to more than 64 weapons. In short have a base unit that morphs to more than 64 different units in total with a weapon each, and then the weapons bug.
As he already stated he needs trigger help to bypass this. Either that or he uses a autosuicide and Create Unit effect. Even the Arm Magazine ability has ways of by passing this limitation

Thanks for the help, Turok

Anyone have an idea?
Also is there a way to change a effect's target using triggers? If there is then I can just replace the unit then apply the effect to the new unit.
Maybe start a new beam on the new unit to simulate the beam staying on the unit?
Not just like that, no.
