Changeling's of Abathur's Brood, also know as Ultimate Changelings posess the Ultimate Shapeshift ability that allows the Changeling to transform into zealot, 2 marines or 4 zerglings (Timed life of changeling resets to full duration upon transforming) on contact with enemy army based on their race. These cloned units deal 25% increased damage than their regular versions and have their attack and movement speed increased by 10%.

Just an idea that went through my head. Have you ever seen Abathur's Ultimate Evolution ability in Heroes of the Storm ? He basically deeptunels to ally hero and shapeshifts himself into a better version of them. The icon of this ability is also really similar to changeling's ability icon and Abathur himself has a body really similar to Changeling with the sluggish body, two hands, bubbles along the body, multiple eyes and a vertical mouth. So maybe Changelings were actually Kerrigan's experiment to replicate Abathur's shapeshifting abilities ? 

Anyway I got the idea that Abathur could upgrade his Changelings into something more deadly and that's it.
