SC2Replayed, TPS, Interface Contest, Minigame

  • Update: SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY VJEUX! Also, Blizzard just setup a Custom Map-related feedback thread. Make sure all of your feedback on the Custom Maps systems goes in there. That means, Map/Mod size/limit per account, popularity system feedback, everything and anything related to Custom Maps and Battle.net goes here.

Today is special for me, it's my 21th Birthday! :)

ffxivcore.com is organizing a Final Fantasy 14 Beta key giveaway, I thought you might be interested :)

SC2Replayed

SC2Replayed Logo

Together with Sixen we have been working hard on mapster for the last several months to create a mapping community. Our co-workers at Curse on their side spent their time developping a new website: sc2replayed.com.

We've spent a hard time working on the search function so you are able to browse the thousands of replays available and find those you really want to see. It has been a complex task but I think it is fairly good right now.

Also, we have figured out the replay format and are able to extract meaningful data from it. As we wanted to release the website for Starcraft 2 launch, we only have basic things like the build order. However we are planning to add more interesting stuff and even let you download a readable version of the replays so the theorycrafters you are can get factual data.

Finally we added some statistics for fun and forums :)

I really hope you will like this website as we put a lot of efforts in making it user friendly. You can add some of your replays and see from yourself!

Third Person Shooter by iWaNN

I would like to news this work made by iWaNN as it is a complete non-intrusive library to do Third Person Shooter for your map. You just have to put the few triggers in there and your pretty much done. Also, a great thing is that you are still in control of your unit and can cast spells, have the UI ... You should check it out :)

Interface Contest

If you come to mapster often you have probably noticed all the different maps with custom UI. It's time to make it a contest ! You have to make a custom interface element. It can be anything you want including action bars, player frame, menu panel ...

  • You are allowed to use both dialogs and .SC2Layout modifications
  • You must not re-use previous work (please be honest :) )
  • You can submit as many entries as wanted as long as they are all differents.

You have 8 days to complete this contest. You have to provide a video and the associated map.

Reward

The main goal of the contest is to further community development within GalaxyEdit. The rewards can be see as follows:

  • First: 1-year Curse Premium
  • Second: 6-month Curse Premium
  • Third: 3-month Curse Premium
  • Everyone else: 1-month Curse Premium

This will be the last vote for the minigame contest :)

Has anyone heard the word on Blizzard Custom maps?

We have more information planned to share on the creating custom maps and will adding new maps of our own to the system over time. (I can't answer as to when.)

As we release information, we'll be sure to highlight it on the front blog and as always, we're keeping an eye out for any great community created guides or helpful hints that we can highlight and share with the community as well. We're also going to be keeping an eye out for great community created maps; and much like we've been doing with the Reconnaissance Report, we're hoping to highlight those maps in on the blog as well.

Idea: Why not let the community decide what maps it likes?

That's our intent. We'll be looking for recommendations of maps that the community is enjoying and look into potentially highlighting them in a post on the community site. We'll let everyone know further details on how we would like submissions sent our way etc. We'll also be taking a close look at those maps before we point them out, but we know that we have some amazing and creative community members that we're looking forward to seeing more of.

To better consolidate constructive feedback on issues or concerns with the custom maps and features, we would like to encourage everyone to use this thread. We will be actively working to redirect additional or new posts on this topic to this thread so that we can better track feedback as well. Thanks.
